Partners for Measles Advocacy
7th Annual Meeting
Panel Participants
• Robert Perry (CDC)
• Casey Boudreau (WHO / AFRO)
• Marcy Erskine (CRC)
• Lynda Foray (Sierra Leone MoH)
• Stefan Hoyer (IFRC)
• Monique Petrofsky (CDC)
The Issues
• What is “quality”– High coverage– Uniform coverage (across districts)– Few adverse events
• Previous SIAs good quality
• New round of (follow-up) campaigns
• More campaigns integrating ITNs
Recent Challenges
• SIA coverage low not uniform in all districts• Outbreaks in year before follow-up SIAs• Recurring operational / technical problems• Bumps in the road to integration
– Challenge in bringing all partners to the table– Integrating with OPV vs. measles SIAs– Delay in Kenya measles SIA to allow integration– Ghana measles SIA had low coverage in age groups
not included in ITN distribution
