DANCE LIKE NOBODY IS WATCHING

Dancing is more than an activity to me. It has offered

me way more than just entertainment and the

benefits range from physical fitness to optimism and

positivity.

As a child, I used to dance in front of the television, hold the stereo system and

jump along with the beats. What started then, continues even today.

The interest to dance came partially because of the family I am raised in, which has a very vibrant culture and partly because of my sisters who are good dancers. While I enjoy dancing during Navratri, a festival where Gujaratis dance (Garba and Dandiya) throughout all 9 nights, my interest to learn more about other cultures got me to learn different forms from different parts of the world. It is very rare to find me not tapping my feet in sync whenever some music is being played.

Focus is a very important aspect in dance as well as in life. Like in dance, in life it’s important to focus on the right things at right time. Dance helps me to concentrate better, which helps me to avoid taking any kind of rash decisions and always maintain a path that I believe is the best for me.

FOCUS AND CONCENTRATIONWhile dancing, I make sure I am getting it right and I am not missing

any count.

While working in public spaces or meeting a deadline, I tend to plug in headphones to avoid noise, this helps me to complete my work faster and eventually in the process, sometimes I tend to tap my legs subconsciously.

According to me, the ability to adapt according to the circumstances is a skill that every member of a team must imbibe. The potential to think efficiently and effectively in any given situation marks the survival of an individual.

SYNCHRONISATIONDance can be performed in a team as well as individually.

Synchronisation is all about how well an individual is able to adapt to his or her surroundings

Dance has taught me to stay patient with others as well as with myself . As an employee, I have worked in a team numerous times and I believe that I have worked efficiently in any given situation.

Dancing involves hand gestures and body postures which can be perfected only when one has the knack to learn each and every aspect in detail.

I believe that nothing comes easy in life and to achieve best results, one must always look and evaluate every factor carefully. This can be achieved when an individual plans ahead and practices rigorously to achieve the same

Grooming is all about leaving a lasting impression. It is important for an individual to look good which eventually makes one more comfortable and confident.

It so happened that because of doing stage shows, I learnt the importance of grooming myself and looking presentable, be it Friday family time or Monday morning meetings. The saying never gets old - First impression is the best impression.

Dancing is more than just moves or steps. It’s about expressing oneself and their emotions. Cues are important as they allow an individual to communicate more effectively.

COMMUNICATIONIdentifying the non-verbal cues and the ability to lead is an integral

aspect of dance.

There are situations where while working in a team some of us may miss the cues for certain actions or miss an opportunity to respond. My learnings from dance has enabled me to identify these cues to avoid any kind of unwanted situations, and thus helped me emerge as a leader from distress while my team members are loaded.

Dancing requires a lot of enthusiasm for it to be done properly. Lack of energy can make the performance look dull.

ENTHUSIASM AND URGE TO LEARNDance routines cannot be hackneyed and hence to make it novel,

there is a lot of new learning that takes place

I have never been hesitant to do or to learn new things. It makes me feel empowered and ignites a zeal inside me. I always tend to come forward and take up responsibility, be in terms of family events or professional campaigns. I strongly believe that one can do anything if they have enthusiasm.

Loving what you do is very essential. When you love doing something, you get involved with it whole heartedly and this applies to Dancing as well. I loved dancing when I started learning rock n roll as a child, and with time I ended up learning styles such as Bachata, Ballroom, Bollywood, Cha-Cha, Jazz, Meringue, and Salsa.

I feel that when one takes up a responsibility, he/she must give in their heart out and be dedicated to the task completely. Doing it half-heartedly will only lead to an end result that may be chaotic and may not deliver results as promised.

Dedication Creativity

Like other forms of arts, what differentiates a good dancer from an average one is his/her creativity. Creativity is the capacity to imagine things never imagined before and explore possibilities never thought before. In dance creativity is about expressing yourself in the most simplest of manners.

Creativity is as relevant in the corporate world as it is in dance. Thinking out of the box and coming up with never thought before solutions to complex problems is what makes a person successful in the corporate world. In my life, I always tend to analyse a situation thoroughly and try coming up with a solution that is more innovative.
