Job Report HVAC EQUIPMENT MARLIM SUL OIL FIELD P-51 OUR CLIENT FELS/TECHNIP - FSTP OPERATORS PETROBRAS DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT The Marlim Sul field was discovered in 1987. In 2003 the field had 57 producing wells reaching an average output of 151,000 b/d. The P-51, with a total cost around $830 million, produces approx 180 000 barrels a day. P-51 is a semi-submersible and is installed in deep water at the heavy oil Marlim Sul field in the Campos basin outside Brazil. The rig was built in Rio de Janeiro state by the FELS Se- tal-Technip consortium. The P-51 was contracted in 2004 and production start was in 2009. CHALLENGES The main challenge was that this was the first semi-sub- mersible platform built completely in Brazil and both cus- tomer and shipyard were new to us. Novenco also had to work with two separate engineering teams for the Accommodation and Deckbox area. Meeting the demands in the latest Petrobras specifications was challenging. Petrobras is known for extremely extensive documentation and a complex approval process. Last but not least the stringent sound requirements were difficult to meet in critical areas. SOLUTION Following an extensive bid process, Novenco was awarded two separate purchase orders for the Accommodation and Deckbox. Novenco needed to use two separate project teams due to the extent and complexity of the project. Both teams worked closely together out of Novenco’s main offshore office situat- ed in Oslo, Norway. Purchase orders were carefully coordinated to ensure common suppliers, reducing inspection and delivery costs for both the client and Novenco and ensuring a minimum of spare parts during the lifetime of the platform. SCOPE OF WORK Novenco’s scope of work was complete HVAC system design review, procurement, production, testing and delivery of all VAC equipment detailed overleaf, as well as commissioning assistance after installation. Documentation was very extensive with a total of over 280 of- ficial project documents in Novenco’s documention package. Equipment was produced in accordance with Petrobras latest specifications, including the requirement for painting equipment both internally and externally.
