The Humphrey Bulldog Volleyball team played an awsome season. Though it started off rough, the girls came through with some great team efforts and wins. The team had some sweet wins. Katie Macken, junior team captain said, "I

thought the season was great. We worked hard during practice and played together as a team and it showed when we started off the season and started winning. I

think the whole team improved throughout the season and everyone had the desire to win and was willing to do

whatever it took to get the win we deserved. It was great to see the number of girls out this year compared to other years. I

next year will be even greater." Next year for the girls should be even better because the team is young. With only three seniors graduating this year, the team is left with many strong juniors, sophomores and freshmen. Melody Schrant, senior team captain said, "This season was one of many accomplishments for us. We worked hard and it showed with the wins we got. I am proud of all the girls that

stuck it out and put their whole heart into the season. I hope that next year they will also have strong dedicated team to bring home more wins."

but other than that I'd say the season went pretty well. The underclassmen have a long way to go and a lot to learn, but I think that there is success in their future."

Another team captain, Justin Ternus, said " I thought we could of done better this year. We lost a lot of close g-ames. I

was disappointed in this year." Justin Preister, the third team captain, said, "Some continuous troubling moments during games did us in." ven though some of the team has a negative view of the season,

new head coach, Gary Bender, is a little more upbeat. "By no means does the win/loss record portray a true reflection of the season. We played in many close games that could have gone either way. The team's hardwork, athleticism, energy, and work ethic made them a competi-

tive team that I was proud to be a part of." All in all, the season was pretty good. I think that the Bulldogs have a lot of talent coming up, which they

need to replace the senior talent that is leaving this year. look forward to coming back next year and watching the

this group of girls. They gave excellent effort, that's not always easy to do when you are down. Illness and injuri

really hurt us this year, with having so few out." Senior Melody Shrant says, "It was a hard disappointing season us. We didn't get the wins we know we could have. I'm going to miss playing basketball with everyone next year and I hope they bring home the wins that they are capable of." Junior Kayla Jones says, "It was nice to see that we h more girls out this year than last year. We all worked hard

The Bulldog track teams put in a lot of hard work and dedication to make the season a great one. There were multiple state qualifiers this year. Qualifying on the boy's track team was Garrett Flamig, in both the 110M and the

300M hurdles. On the girls' side, Lacey Harris qualified in both the lOOM and the 200M. Katie Macken qualified in the triple jump and the 400M relay team, comprised

of Lacey Harris, Jordan Costello, Ashley Cummings, and Sara Macken also qualified. Of the season, Coach Frauendorfer said, "This year's girl's track team was a great surprise, and a lot of fun. There was very little negative, and a whole lot of positive about this team. The girls set their own goals and went out and got them. We had super individual perfonnances. I couldn't have asked for a better group of girls to work with. To-gether, they made this year's track program something we can all be proud of." Coach Brandl said, "We had a good year in boy's track, we had boys show improvement on times and marks weekly. Garrett Flamig broke two school records in the hurdles.

The boys gave good efforts which made it fun and rewarding."

The key to success? "Al-ways follow through," says first time State Golf quali-fier Tyler Christensen. Tyler was the first golfer from Humphrey to qualify for the State Vleet held in Lincoln.

The Humphrey Bulldog golfers had a good year, qualifying their first golfer for state. Tyler Christensen qualified for state at the district

meet held in Fremont. He shot a 95 on the eigh-teen hole course. While this was the highlight of the Bulldog golf season, there were many per-sonal bests shot on courses throughout the sea-son. Coach Barb Kelly said, "In only our second sea-son of golf, I was pleased to see the improve-ments that were made by the team and indi-vidual members. To have a state qualifier is also very exciting. As a team we accomplished some of our goals, and will work next year on accom-plishing more of them."
