How To Achieve Your Goals And Start Enjoying Your Freedom

Are you struggling to get somewhere or achieve a goal?

You’ve been peddling away but it seems as if the scenery is going in the opposite direction. One step forward twosteps back.

So your energy levels fall. Your activity levels falls.

Maybe you get things going again but it just doesn’t seem as if you are going to get there. So how do you achieveyour goals and start living the life you dream.

I decided to record this video on my daily walk this morning. I didn’t think I’d need my sunglasses on thisSeptember morning but the sun is so bright I’ve had to put them on.

How To Achieve Your Goals And Start Enjoying Your Freedom

I was listening to a guy called Grant Cardone this morning before leaving the house. He was talking about havinggoals and about being successful. He said you have to be willing to do whatever it takes to get to where you want.

I know I’ve made that commitment at various times. I’ve said I’m willing to do whatever it takes. But thensomething happens. I think I’m doing whatever it takes. It feels as if I’m doing what it takes. I’m taking action butI’m just not achieving that goal.

Maybe what you are looking for is freedom. One of my major goals recently has been about freedom.

Freedom means something different to different people. Freedom for some people is about being financially free, free from debt. Having the money to do what you want when you want.

Or it may be more about time freedom. You may have the money but just not have the time to do what you wantwhen you want. That can be because you are a mother or father who wants to spend more time with your childrenwithout having to put them into nursery or day care.

Or maybe you’re a grandmother like me who just wants the freedom to spend time with my grandchildren when Iwant. Not be constrained by being in a full time job and at the end of the week I’m just so knackered. I really wantto see my grandchildren but by the time it is Monday I’m tired and have to be back at work again. Freedom from that tiredness.

More and more people are choosing vehicles to help them get to where they want to go. But so many peoplestruggle. That vehicle may be having a business, selling something, having a side hustle, side business. Peoplejust struggle. I’ve had that struggle.

This is what I was thinking about this morning because recently I’ve had some success. I was thinking about whathas changed and what I’ve done differently. What helped me?

I came up with these three things. Maybe not the only things but they are what I thought about this morning as Ireflected on this.

I want to have time and financial freedom. More than anything I want to work and connect with people who havedreams and the desire to get somewhere. But they have obstacles getting in the way.

They have challenges. I want to coach and mentor people to get to where they want to go. Not do it for them but tohelp them access the tools and resource to get them to where they want to go.

When I’ve thought about what has worked for me and some recent goals that I’ve been able to achieve. Knowinghow to achieve your goals is an important skill. Here are 3 steps that have helped me.

Step #1 Reconnect With Your “Why”

What was it that got you to make certain decisions to get started with some sort of vehicle to move forward

Page 3: How To Achieve Your Goals

towards a goal or dream. What was your “why” that created a burning desire.

I use the word reconnect because the likelihood is that if things are slowing up that somehow you’ve disconnectedwith your “why.” This has happened to me. I’ve had this burning desire and then as time has gone on I’vedisconnected with that “why.”

What I’ve learnt from my mentors is the importance of reconnecting with my “why.” It helps me to work out if I stillwant to go where I’m going. I’ve learnt that your desire has to be so big that it frightens you a bit. If you’ve done itright your goals should be written down. I do write down my goals. However, I’ve noticed that when I’ve writtenthem in a journal I’ve not looked at them on a daily basis.

So I’ve been putting my goals up on a notice board. A couple of weeks ago I was waning with some of my goalsand I realised that I’d reorganised my office and my goals were no longer in front of me when I sat at my desk. Iwasn’t focusing on them on a daily basis.

So this is the first thing. Reconnect with your “why” and your burning desire. Make sure the dreams you have arebig ones. They have to frighten you a bit for you to want to get there.

Don’t be tempted as I have been in the past to dumb down a goal because I think it is too big. Maybe I need toscale it back a bit. I think that is the wrong thing to do.

I want to share an example. Last year I set a goal to have published 30 children’s ebooks on Amazon. About halfway through that year I’d only published a few. I was tempted to give up on my original goal. I reconnected withwhy I wanted to do it. Instead of telling myself that I should only aim for 3 or 4 more, I stuck with the original goal topublish 30 books. I realised that one of the reasons holding me back was finances. I was willing to take the action.I decided to keep going.

By the end of the year I had published 10 books. You might say well that’s not 30. The reality is that if I hadn’tstayed with the original goal of 30 it is likely that I would only have published one or two more. I was still headingfor that 30 and as a restultI hit 10.

Step #2 Get Around Mentors And Like Minded People

I said mentors and not just one mentor. You need to have access to people who have achieved what you want toachieve. Are already there and have overcome obstacles, They know how to get over hurdles and how to getthrough challenges to get to where they want.

You might think that one of the things about having a mentor is that they can short cut your learning. I don’t think itis just about them helping you to avoid the challenges to avoid obstacles. It is more about helping you to developthe right mindset, use the right mindset, to get through, to get over those challenges and hurdles.

That is what strengthens you and builds your resilience. You wouldn’t put a new tree in a corner where it isprotected from the wind. It is likely to grow weak. You want to put that vulnerable tree where it is going to have todeal with the elements. It is the wind that will help to strengthen that tree trunk.

You want more than one mentor because your life isn’t one dimensional. Different mentors can support and helpyou with different areas of your life. As well as mentors you need to be part of a community of people who are alsobeing mentored by them. Some will be ahead of you and others will be behind you. Those ahead of you will haveovercome challenges and obstacles and give you the belief that you can too.

Sometimes a mentor can seem so far ahead of you that you think you’ll never achieve what they have. You needpeople who are also slightly behind you. I want to coach people I want to be a mentor. So some people will belooking at me and what I am achieving. I can inspire them.

Another important thing I learnt is to be willing to share my results and be visible. I’ve been around mentors and incommunities before but I hadn’t been so visible or willing to share my result, be open or allow people to see me. Ithink that has made a significant difference in my recent successes.

Page 4: How To Achieve Your Goals

That leads me to number three.

Step #3 Take Massive Action

Take massive action. Keep taking it, keep taking it, keep on, keep on. Don’t give up. This is where we comearound to doing whatever it takes. You need to have a burning desire.

You need to know your “why.”

That will help you build momentum.

That is the fuel.

You need to be within a community with a mentor so that you know what you are doing and you can work on yourmindset.

This last thing is down to you.

Taking action.

Showing up is good.

Whatever vehicle you are using you have to use it. You have to show up for it. You have to take action.

It surprises me and maybe it doesn’t surprise me. I coach people who’ve started a new venture. They have madea commitment to put 10 hours into it to make it work. When that person says they’re not getting the results they’reexpecting and I ask how much time they’ve put into it. You find that they may have put only a couple of hours or have done only a couple of things.

I’m very big on taking massive action. If I’m going to put 10 hours into something I actually put in 15 or even 20.

You can have all the knowledge in the world.

All the technical skills in the world.

You can have all the help and support in the world but if you’re not willing to take action. Massive actionconsistently – whatever the goal is it is not going to happen. I wrote an article about persistence and the differenceit can mean to your result.

I’m standing in this beautiful park at the moment. I need to travel from here back to my house. I’m not going to getthere if I don’t move. If I don’t take action. I could run because I’ll get there faster. I could walk. I could hop. I couldjump. It doesn’t matter how but I have to be in some kind of motion. I have to be taking action.

I have gone through three things that have helped me achieve some major goals. The question was: Are youstruggling to get to where you want or achieve your goals?

Whether it be fast enough or not at all. I’ve shared 3 things that have helped me recently to achieve some successthat I’ve never achieved before. One of those is that I’ve been on my company leader board several times in thelast few months for having the most sales.

I’ve been recording videos every day. Coming out on my walk every day. I struggled to do this in the past.

It has been down to these three things.

1 – Reconnecting with my “why”

2 – Being around mentors as well as a community of people on the same journey.

3 –Taking massive action and not making excuses.
