Home for Christmas Home for Christmas. It sounds so cosy doesn't it. Yet we must remember that for some Christmas is not an easy time of year. Perhaps this Christmas will their first without a loved one. Some will have some painful moments as their thoughts go to the one whose chair at the table is empty this year. For their loved one Home for Christmas means that their loved one will be in eternity with the One they loved for a life time. Then there are the people who are on their own. I know some may prefer it that way, but for the majority watching TV alone and eating dinner for one only heightens their loneliness. If you have people in your thoughts who are on their own, why not invite them Home for Christmas. We also need to think of those who face a less cosy picture. Perhaps Home for Christmas is a place of conflict and heartache, family rows and fractious children. Why not offer them a peaceful haven or, if that is not possible, at least give them a place in your prayers. Finally, we all complain about the commercialism of Christmas. Whatever our circumstances this year, it is important to remember that it all began with a family far from home. Two thousand years ago, Joseph and Mary were faced with "No room, no room," and ended up in a stable. Jesus Christ was born beside animal dung in a place which was far from those romantic Christmas card pictures we hang on our walls. I wonder if this year, Jesus will find room in your home for Christmas. Pam Weaver

Home for Christmas

Home for Christmas. It sounds so cosy doesn't it. Yet we must

remember that for some Christmas is not an easy time of year. Perhaps

this Christmas will their first without a loved one. Some will have some

painful moments as their thoughts go to the one whose chair at the table

is empty this year. For their loved one Home for Christmas means that

their loved one will be in eternity with the One they loved for a life time.

Then there are the people who are on their own. I know some may

prefer it that way, but for the majority watching TV alone and eating

dinner for one only heightens their loneliness. If you have people in your

thoughts who are on their own, why not invite them Home for

Christmas.

We also need to think of those who face a less cosy picture. Perhaps

Home for Christmas is a place of conflict and heartache, family rows

and fractious children. Why not offer them a peaceful haven or, if that is

not possible, at least give them a place in your prayers.

Finally, we all complain about the commercialism of Christmas.

Whatever our circumstances this year, it is important to remember that it

all began with a family far from home. Two thousand years ago, Joseph

and Mary were faced with "No room, no room," and ended up in a stable.

Jesus Christ was born beside animal dung in a place which was far from

those romantic Christmas card pictures we hang on our walls. I wonder if

this year, Jesus will find room in your home for Christmas.

MAGHERADROLL PARISH BULLETIN – the “subscribe”

system of receiving the Magheradroll Parish Bulletin

automatically every Sunday seems to have been

discontinued. The Florida system - where the bulletins

have been uploaded up to now seems to be fixed –

simply click on the link on the BULLETINS page of

parish website and it will bring you to the Florida site

and the bulletins listed down the page. For the next

few weeks in addition as a precaution the bulletin will

also be available directly from the BULLETINS page of

the parish website.

https://magheradrollparish.wordpress.com/bulletins/

and follow the instructions there. You will be kept

informed of the progress on the parish website.

(Thanks to Santa and the wee PP for their prayers!)

O come, O come, Emmanuel, And ransom captive Israel,

That mourns in lonely exile here

Until the Son of god appear:

Rejoice, rejoice, Emmanuel

Shall come to thee, O Israel.

O come, thou Rod of Jesse, free

Thine own from Satan’s tyranny; From depths of hell thy people save,

And give them vict’ry o’er grave: (r)

O come, thou dayspring, come and cheer

Our spirits by thine advent here;

Disperse the gloomy clouds of night, And deaths dark shadows put to flight. (r)

Once in royal David’s city Stood a lowly cattle shed,

Where a Mother laid her baby

In a manger for his bed:

Mary was that Mother mild, Jesus Christ her little child.

He came down to earth from heaven, Who is God and Lord of all,

And his shelter was a stable

And his cradle was a stall; With the poor, and mean, and lowly,

Lived on earth our Saviour holy.
