I Can Do That
When the world slumbers in comfort and selfishness, our Christian mission is to help rouse it from sleep. Pope Francis Paul Revere is hailed as a hero because spreading the word to a sleeping community that the British were coming saved our country. You have the opportunity to help save the whole planet by speaking up about the need to protect God’s creation. Research shows that people will change their minds about the need to act when they have repeatedly heard a consistent message from reliable sources. Talk to others. Avoid emotionally charged arguments by listening and finding common ground. We all want to have safe drinking water. We all want clean air to breathe. We all want those who suffer with lung disease to breathe easier. No one enjoys the sight of litter on the ground or in the water. By educating yourself you will be able to refute the myths that others believe without getting into a shouting match. You may not change their minds, but you will have been a reliable source, a seed of doubt that will allow the truth to eventually grow and flourish. If you cause three people to make a change and they cause three people to change and so on, we will reach a critical mass that politicians cannot ignore. Change does not begin with legislation. Change ends in legislation.
Be a hero in the war on pollution.
Spread the word!

OPPORTUNITIES FOR SHARING TIME,
TALENT, TREASURE
Grateful Giving
Consider a Gift of Stock to
Support the Ministries of Holy Martyrs
In gratitude for all that God has given us, we, as
Christians, are called to give back to our community
and our church. In addition to the Sunday offertory, one
way of giving back might be transferring appreciated
stock to help Holy Martyrs continue its mission to lead
people to encounter Christ, grow in faith, and make
disciples. By transferring stock directly to our parish,
you may be able to avoid capital gains taxes.
For more information about what you need to do to
make such a gift, please contact
Therese McDonnell at 330-722-6633 or
Want to give without writing a check?

around the world and helps you
make a direct and lasting impact on
the lives of others.
Casa San Jose, Street Children Center
The goal of Casa San José and its
programs is to reduce the increasing
number of children and adolescents
living on the streets in the city of
Cochabamba, Bolivia. First,
professionals work with the children in the streets,
organizing activities in order to enhance their skills,
raise their self-esteem, strengthen their identity, and
prevent their continued life in the streets and the
often-subsequent drug use and crime. Following these
activities, Casa San José invites in the boys and teens
who are open to its programs and willing to make the
effort to overcome their situation. Once they have
freely accepted the invitation to the center, they are
provided with food, medical care, education,
psychological counseling and with other formation and
training.
In 2019 a total of 454 persons
including relatives, children
and adolescents benefited
from the services offered by
Casa San José. There were
only 3 adolescents not able to adapt to Casa San José.

GLORY BEES
THE GLORY BEES give glory to God by cleaning the
church. Thank you to all who have volunteered their time
and are back to clean. Those scheduled for Tuesday, July 7
will receive a confirmation phone call from the Church
Office.
You are all most appreciated.
Safe Practices When Coming to Holy Martyrs
Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Social distancing of at least six feet, except with family members who live with you, is required in the church and other indoor areas.
Everyone must sanitize their hands before entering the worship space. “The faithful are obliged to wear a mask or other face covering upon entering church and during the celebration of Mass, except for the brief moment of receiving Holy Communion.”
For the time being there will be no sign of peace at Mass. There will be a single Communion line up the main aisle with marked 6 foot intervals on the floor to maintain social distancing. Communicants seated in the middle sections will advance first up the main aisle then return to their seats
down the side aisles, followed by the side sections who will walk to the back of the church and up the main aisle then return to their seats down the side aisles, maintaining a six foot interval.
Please Note: For the health and safety of all, receiving Communion in the Hand is normative.
When approaching the minister for Holy Communion, the mask should be pulled down over the mouth only to receive the Host and immediately pulled up again.
The scheduled time for confession at Holy Martyrs is on Saturday from 3:00 to 4:00 pm in the reconciliation room, entered through the chapel.
a) A mask or facial covering must be worn when in the church buildings, including before and during confession.
b) Enter the chapel as usual and wait for the priest to be free.
c) Maintain social distance of at least six feet from others while in the chapel.
d) When entering the reconciliation room, you may either sit face to face or kneel behind the screen. The penitent and priest must maintain a social distance of six feet while in the reconciliation room.
For your safety and others, if you are not feeling well or have been exposed to someone with the COVID-19 virus you should stay home. You must self-quarantine for 14 days if you have been exposed to the virus. These steps will help keep you and those around you safe and healthy.
