HAPPY THANKSGIVING NOVEMBER 2019 BUCKEYE BREEZE I can’t believe we are finishing up hole six already and what a busy hole it has been just to get Par! Before I start, I would like to address something I discovered while driving to the green this past weekend. I found it hard to believe that many of our Aerie and Auxiliaries do not recognize their members on their years of service. You don’t have to hold a special meeting or dinner; you could just order their 5, 10, 15, 20, etc. pins and present them even at a meeting to show your appreciation for their continued and loyal service to your Aerie or Auxiliary! You’d be surprised how special this makes them feel, and believe me, they will be very proud and will spread the positive note on this achievement and especially that your F.O.E. cares and shows they care!!! This is a good gesture of putting a pin of service on this loyal member! I hope those that don’t do this will at least give it a try!!! I was very fortunate to be assigned to the SW Zone in Mount Healthy and traveled with Agnes Smith, Zone Secretary, and met up with Janet Holmes, Zone Chairman. I was Zone Speaker and the three of us were treated royally by all the Aerie and Auxiliary Officers and Gallery. I even got to sit and chat with Aerie Ohio State President, Chuck Cunningham, on Friday at the Aerie. He was leaving the next morning to another Zone for their Saturday meeting! We were honored to have present at the Zone 5 of our Drivers: Sue Fisher, Deb Martin, Sara Favorite, Helen Poehner (Ohio’s very own PGMP) and Georgene Chidsey, who is Ohio State Mother this year! Sunday it was nice to get six new golf balls and then after the meeting, Agnes and I left to go back home to rest up for our 2 nd shot to another Club House! 2 nd shot towards the green landed me in Medina for the NE Zone Conference, where I was with our Ohio State Treasurer, Pat Kovalak. Friday we were greeted by several Officers and Galleries of Medina along with a host of our Irons from other Zones. It was nice to see several of our Drivers, especially our NE Zone Drivers, Paddy Rawlins, our Ohio State Grandmother, Harriet Luke and Gladys Petrie. Thank goodness this is a Par 5 hole; had to take a 3rd shot on Saturday with President Chuck Cunningham to Norwalk for their 115th Anniversary. We were treated with a fantastic meal and some great stories about the Aerie. Chuck and I received checks from both the Aerie and Auxiliary for our charities and after spending some time chatting and thanking them, the ball did a curve and sent us back to the Medina Clubhouse to complete the Zone. What a nice way to end this shot gaining 4 more new golf balls!!! Great job Medina and to Denise Brooks, Carol Jakubowski, and Mary Ann Hagans for a great conference. Shot 4 landed me at the Ashland Clubhouse where they were having their Auxiliary Anniversary along with honoring their Past Presidents. They gave pins to members for their years of service and they added four new golf balls to their bag, helping Ohio to be number #1 and staying there! Fantastic!!! Ashland awarded me with a nice check for my charity and after I thanked them, we had a nice visit with snacks and cake. Great to see Driver Faye Baum and Iron Pam Kohlrieser in attendance. Roxann McCain and the Ashland Auxiliary are great Sisters and they love the Eagles!! Finally my 5th shot was for Par and I landed this Pro in the hole at home to get ready for the next hole, after a few days of R&R. “JOIN THE TOURNAMENT - BRING A FRIEND“ Lenny Zuchegno - Your Pro Golfer Lenny Zuchegno Judy Kempton Debbie Sharp State President Buckeye Breeze Editor State Secretary 616 Canford Avenue NW 1838 Mohawk Drive 404 Kennison Avenue Massillon, OH 44646 Lancaster, OH 43130 New Carlisle, OH 45344 (330)737-3973/268-2138 (740) 653-8488/503-2363 (937) 679-8002 [email protected] [email protected] [email protected]

WELCOME TO OUR NEW GOLF CART (DISTRICT LEADER) FOR

DISTRICT #3 MARIEAN NORRIS

THANK YOU, MARIEAN, FOR ACCEPTING THIS APPOINTMENT!!

ACCEPTING BIDS FOR WINTER BOARD MEETING, FEBRUARY 22, 2020 The State Auxiliary is looking for an Aerie Home to hold a Winter Board Meeting. The date would be Saturday, February 22, 2020. We are hoping to have the location as centrally-located as possible, but no bid will be refused. Tentative plans would be to meet around noon, have lunch at 1 p.m., then hold the Board Meeting. Afterwards, attendees can either travel home or go to a local hotel for the night. If your Auxiliary is interested in hosting the Board Meeting, please provide the following information to State Secretary Debbie Sharp by December 31, 2019, so a decision can be made on a location: a. Be sure your Aerie approves the use of the Aerie Home; b. Room large enough for a Board Meeting—U-shaped table seating 16, with theater-style for 20; c. Have lunch available at a nominal fee for purchase; d. List of hotels with rates and phone numbers in the local area; e. Details of event, if any, already planned for the evening at the Aerie Home, i.e., steak diner, dance, etc.
