We welcome everyone including those who are single, mar-ried, divorced, crying newborns, tired parents, and doting grandparents. We welcome those who are “just browsing” and those who know every hymn and praise song ever written. We welcome those who think the earth is flat, can’t spell, or because grandma is in town—you wanted to go to

church. You have found a perfectly imperfect church filled with perfectly imperfect people who worship our perfect Lord. First time guests - please pickup a welcome gift at the welcome desk in the lobby. Once again, welcome!

Practice The Pause When in doubt , pause. When angry, pause. When stressed, pause. And, when you pause… Pray!

Please lift your neighbors in prayer…

In honor of Mother’s Day I thought I would share an essay that I entered in a contest a few years back.

MY BEAUTIFUL MOTHER

“Beautiful” is defined as “the combination of qualities that make something very pleasing and impressive to listen to, touch, or especially to look at”. Synonyms for the word beautiful include “striking, stunning, lovely, delightful, won-derful, and pleasing” (to name a few). When I think of my beautiful mother, she is all that and more! The term “mother” is synonymous with “look after, care for, protect, nurse, and tend to”.

When I think of motherhood, I am immediately brought back to my childhood. As a young boy, there was not a person in the entire universe more beautiful than my mother. As a child, I was not concerned about my mom having a “Barbie Doll figure”, great clothes, the latest hairdo, or exquisite taste. As a son, I was not concerned about my moth-er having perfect teeth or a washboard stomach. My mind was not contaminated with what society and Vanity Fair deemed as beautiful. So I was a better judge of what made my mom “beautiful”.

Beauty was when my mom kissed my “boo-boos” to make me feel better. Beauty was when my mom cared for me when I was sick. During my participation in sports, beauty occurred when my mom cheered me in victory, and espe-cially when she consoled me in defeat. Taking me for ice cream always made losses more enduring! Beauty happened when my mom tucked me in at night, and when she hugged me for no apparent reason! Beauty was packing my lunch for school and including a special treat. Beauty was making me feel like I was “wealthy as heck”, even though we did not have much money. Because money was tight, my mom actually ate hot dogs, so that my brother and I could eat steak for dinner!

Beauty was my mother showing her love by actions. Beauty was doing things and not worrying about receiving the credit. My mom used to put up the Christmas tree and all decorations after we went to bed on Christmas Eve, so that we thought that Santa Claus did everything! My mother was (and is) humble, modest, loving, caring, protecting, and of course, BEAUTIFUL! A mother would do anything for her children, and my mother “did” do everything for me. My striking, stunning, lovely, delightful, wonderful, pleasing, beautiful mother!

Don’s Desk by Don Tomko, Program Director

MOTHERS - It has been 6 months since my mother passed away. I thought the missing her would get easier with the passage of time but I find it has not. I miss her each and every day. If I feel this at 6 months, how will it feel at 6 years?

Cherish your mother if you still have her. Live every day as though it might be her last because one day it will be.

“MELT” THE ICE FAMILY WITH YOUR WARM WELCOME!

Pastor Jeffrey, Lorelei, Danielle, Lindsey, and Kevin will be joining the Hudson First UMC church family on July 1st. Consider sending cards to welcome them before they arrive and let them know you are praying for them! As a pas-tor’s wife, it was one of the sweetest blessings my family received from a church we were getting ready to serve. I really appreciated the sentiment and felt like I already knew some of the congregation. The address at their current church is: First United Methodist Church of Pinellas Park 9025 49th St. Pinellas Park, Fl. 33782 Blessings, Kristie

Beginning today, Mother’s Day, Baby Bottles are available in the Church lobby to be filled with your gift to the West Pasco Pregnancy Center in New Port Richey.

The West Pasco Pregnancy Center is staffed by volunteers who help women achieve their full po-tential despite the pressures and consequences of an unintended pregnancy. When a woman discovers she’s preg-nant, she has many options, yet there are no easy choices if she is not emotionally ready to have a baby. There are options available through WPPC and they offer information to help a woman make a decision she can be happy with years from now.

Mother Teresa said, “Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love.” So, today on Mother’s Day, while remembering our mothers with love, take a Baby Bottle and re-turn by June 17th, Father’s Day.
