αρχιτέκτονας Θοδωρής Ζουμπουλάκης διαθέτει τα-

λέντο και επιμονή στην λεπτομέρεια-βασικές προϋ-

ποθέσεις για αρχιτεκτονική υψηλών προδιαγραφών.

Έχοντας ολοκληρώσει σπουδές αρχιτεκτονικής στο

Εθνικό Μετσόβειο Πολυτεχνείο και στο Πανεπιστή-

μιο UCLA του Λος Άντζελες, ξεκίνησε την επαγγελ-

ματική του καριέρα στο Dagmar Richter Studio, Los Angeles όπου εργάστηκε

σε ιδιωτικά έργα και συμμετείχε σε αρχιτεκτονικούς διαγωνισμούς. Από το

1991 μέχρι το 2011 υπήρξε στενός συνεργάτης του παρισινού αρχιτεκτονι-

κού γραφείου Rena Dumas Architecture Interieure (RDAI) αναλαμβάνοντας

τον σχεδιασμό και την επίβλεψη πολλών καταστημάτων και γραφείων για την

Hermès (ενδεικτικά Madison Avenue στην Νέα Υόρκη, Σαντιάγκο, Αθήνα)

καθώς και το κατάστημα στο κτίριο της εταιρείας στη Νότια Κορέα. «Η Rena

Dumas υπήρξε ένα πανεπιστήμιο από μόνη της», λέει ο Θοδωρής Ζουμπου-

λάκης. «Μέσα από την δουλειά μου στο RDAI εκτέθηκα σε ένα διεθνές περι-

βάλλον ιδιαίτερα απαιτητικό. Ο σχεδιασμός των έργων είχε μεγάλη ακρίβεια

στις λεπτομέρειες βασικό στοιχείο για την εγγύηση ποιότητας και συνέπειας

της κατασκευής».

Ιδρυτής και ιδιοκτήτης του αρχιτεκτονικού γραφείου Zoumboulakis

Architects, στην οποία συμμετέχουν πέντε εξειδικευμένοι αρχιτέκτονες και

δυο σχεδιαστές, δραστηριοποιείται στην Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό με την ίδια

άνεση επικοινωνίας. Η εμπειρία του Hermès σε όλο τον κόσμο αλλά και τα

έργα που πρόσφατα υλοποιεί στο Λονδίνο και την Κύπρο προσέδωσαν στο

Theodore Zoumboulakis is a talented yet detail oriented architect, essential

traits for high quality architecture. Having completed his studies at the Na-

tional Technical University of Athens and UCLA in Los Angeles, he began

his career at the Dagmar Richter Studio, Los Angeles, where he worked on

private projects and participated in architectural competitions. From 1991

to 2011 he was an associate at the Parisian architectural firm Rena Dumas

Architecture Intérieure (RDAI), undertaking the design and supervision of

many Hermès shops worldwide (including Madison Avenue, New York, San-

tiago and Athens), in addition to the boutique at the company’s office build-

ing in South Korea. “Rena Dumas was a whole university herself,” says The-

odore Zoumboulakis. “I was exposed to an internationally challenging

environment through my work at RDAI. The project design required atten-

tion to the smallest detail, guaranteeing the quality and consistency of the

construction.”

Nowadays, as the founder and owner of Zoumboulakis Architects, which

consists of five highly skilled architects and two designers, he is actively in-

volved in projects in Greece and abroad with the same, expressed ease of

communication. Its international background, as well as projects recently

completed in London and Cyprus have provided the firm with design expe-

rience with construction methods and standards of various countries and

prototypes.

Authentic solutions and clear, dynamic architectural forms, having a di-

alectic relationship with the landscape, are two elements that characterise

Αυθεντικές λύσεις και ξεκάθαρες, δυναμικές αρχιτεκτονικές μορφές σε δι-

αλεκτική σχέση με το τοπίο είναι δυο στοιχεία που χαρακτηρίζουν την αρχιτε-

κτονική ταυτότητα του Θοδωρή Ζουμπουλάκη. Ιδιαίτερα στις κατοικίες σε πα-

ραδοσιακό περιβάλλον η πλαστικότητα των κτισμάτων, σε αρμονία με την

παραδοσιακή μορφολογία, αποτελεί parti pris της σύνθεσης. «Πάντα μέσα από

έναν σχεδιασμό που χρησιμοποιεί ένα λεξιλόγιο σύγχρονων υλικών», επιση-

μαίνει ο αρχιτέκτονας. «Πιστεύω στη σύγχρονη και δημιουργική επαν-ερμη-

νεία της κληρονομιάς». Γυάλινα και μεταλλικά στέγαστρα, γέφυρες, σκάλες,

κουπαστές και έπιπλα σύγχρονης αισθητικής συμπληρώνουν την χρήση της

τοπικής πέτρας ή του χειροποίητου σοβά ολοκληρώνοντας μια διαχρονική αρ-

χιτεκτονική. «Με ενδιαφέρει η λιτή και καθαρή έκφραση, επιδιώκω το έργο

να στέκεται απαλλαγμένο από περιττά στοιχεία», εξηγεί ο Θοδωρής Ζουμπου-

λάκης. «Σχεδιάζω πολλές λεπτομέρειες και σε όλη τη πορεία της κατασκευής

διατηρώ μια έντονη επίβλεψη που λειτουργεί προς την σωστή ολοκλήρωση

του έργου». Την ίδια λογική αποπνέουν τα κτιστά έπιπλα ή τα πακτωμένα στοι-

χεία που ακολουθούν την λογική του ενιαίου χώρου και διευκολύνουν την αρ-

μονική μετάβαση από τους εξωτερικούς στους εσωτερικούς χώρους.

«Από την αρχή κάθε συνεργασίας η μελέτη είναι λεπτομερής, με αρκετά προ-

οπτικά, ώστε από νωρίς να συμμετέχει ο ιδιοκτήτης. Πριν κατασκευάσουμε

οτιδήποτε πάντα ζητώ δείγματα δουλειάς ώστε ο ιδιοκτήτης να έχει εικόνα, να

ελέγχει και να συμφωνεί πριν προχωρήσουμε στο τελικό στάδιο», λέει ο αρ-

Zoumboulakis’ architectural identity. They are particularly evident in hous-

es within traditional surroundings; the suppleness of the buildings, in har-

mony with traditional morphology is parti pris of the composition. “Always

through a design that employs a vocabulary of modern materials,” says the

architect, “I believe in a contemporary and creative reinterpretation of tra-

ditional heritage.” Glass and metal shelters, bridges, stairs, railings and

modern aesthetic furniture complement the use of local stone or hand mixed

plaster, completing a timeless architecture. The built-in furniture or an-

chored elements exude the same logic in open concept spaces, facilitating

the smooth transition from exterior to interior areas. “I’m interested in sim-

ple and pure expression, avoiding unnecessary elements,” explains Theo-

dore Zoumboulakis. “I design many details and throughout the course of

construction i oversee the project to ensure its accurate completion.”

“From the very beginning of all collaborations, the study is detailed, with

enough perspectives to ensure the active participation of the owner. Before

building, I always commission samples so the owner has an image of the

project, which he can review and approve,” says the architect. Insistent on

quality construction, he realises that only a thorough study can produce a

flawless result. “I like to examine all possibilities of materials, to discover

new ones and know that “clean work” is required in order to achieve the

goal – when I am designing all aspects must either be derived from princi-

ple or be justified,” he concludes.
