Use the following questions this week to reflect on what it would mean to align yourself with the truths taught in Scripture. Each
question is meant for both personal reflection and as a catalyst for discussion with your family, friends, or small group.
1) Faith, hope and love are often used by the apostle Paul as
marks of maturity. What is the difference between faith and hope?
2) Can you summarize the gospel in a sentence or two? 3) Read 2 Timothy 2:2. What are the implications of this verse for
mothers and motherhood? 4) Do you agree with St. Augustine’s words, “Nothing worth
doing can be accomplished in one’s lifetime? Why or why not? 5) Name a few differences in parenting practices between
mothers and fathers. Do you believe these are innate or merely stereotypes?
6) The phrase, “good enough mom” was coined in 1953 by Donald Winnicott, a British pediatrician and psychoanalyst. After observing thousands of babies and their mothers, Winnicott came to the conclusion that babies and children actually benefit when their mothers fail them in manageable ways. Do you agree with his conclusion? What difference would it make if he were correct?
Memory Verse
And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also
be qualified to teach others.
2 Timothy 2:2
