WHY TO CONDUCT PILOT PLANT STUDIES

• A pilot scale up technique is an intermediate scale for estimation & assessment of a product and process on before huge amounts of money invest for large scale production.

• It is not possible to design a large scale processing plant from laboratory data alone with any degree of success.

• Ginger oil is essential oil that is extracted from the plant ginger i.e Zingiberaceae officinale of the Zingiberaceae family and is also known as Common or Jamaica Ginger.

GINGER OIL PROPERTIES

• Ginger oil is pale yellow in color, has a fresh, agreeable & aromatic smell, has strong and characteristic odour.

• The shelf life of Ginger oil is very long and it is Stable at room temperature.

• So it is used in aromatherapy also in fragrance therapy.

These benefits of ginger oil include its ability to treat stomach problems, nausea, indigestion, inflammations, respiratory & Heart problems, menstrual disorders, etc.

Sample detail : Ginger Oil ( Zingiber officinale )

Adsorbent : Precoated silicagel

Mobile Phase : Toulene : Ethyl Acetate (93:7)

Sample preparation : 1 gm of Zingiber officinale oil was

dissolved in chloroform and 10ml applied

on the TLC plate.

Solvent front run upto : 9 cms

Detection : Anisaldihyde Sulphuric acid reagent (Fig.1)

Vanillin sulphuric acid (Fig.2).

Scanning : 254 nm
