PILOT SCALE TECHNIQUE FORpiprine FROM black pepper
BYK.SUDHAKAR
I M.PHARMACY
• PLANT: It is considered as the place where material, men, method and machine are brought together for the manufacturing of products.
• PILOT SCALEUP: It refers to the art of designing a lab scale formula for the production.
PILOT SCALE TECHNIUE
Definition:
A pilot plant allows investigation of a product and process on an intermediate scale before large amounts of money are committed to full-scale production.
WHY TO CONDUCT PILOT PLANT STUDIES
• A pilot scale up technique is an intermediate scale for estimation & assessment of a product and process on before huge amounts of money invest for large scale production.
• It is not possible to design a large scale processing plant from laboratory data alone with any degree of success.
PIPERINE
PIPERINE PROCESSING Collection & Cultivation. Extraction. Analysis. PACKING & STORAGE.
Piperine
• Piperine is extracted from the plant Black pepper i.e Piper nigrum linn., of the Piperaceae family.
Geographical Distribution : The plant is widely cultivated in India, Ceylon and other tropical countries. This climbing perennial shrub grows in hot and moist places.
Classification:
• Kingdom : Plantae• Division : Angiosperma• Class : Dicotyledonae• Order : Piperales• Family : Piperaceae• Genus : Piper• Species : nigrum Linn.
Vernacular names:
• Sanskrit : Maricha, Ushana• Hindi : Kali mirch• Kannada : Karemenasu• Marathi : Kali mirch• Gujarati : Kalamari• English : Black pepper• Bengali : Kalamorichi• Telugu : Miriyala
• (c) Part used : Fruits
MACROSCOPY
• The entire fruit almost globular about 4- 6.5mm diameter, brownish to black in colour, the surface is uneven , seeds almost white, aromatic with a pungent taste
CULTIVATION & COLLECTION
Cultivated area & Yield in India: Cultivated States: Climate, Rain fall and Altitude: Soil : Fertilizers & Manures: cuitivation is done by s Sowing owing seeds
