For leaders from business, government and research in the aviation and tourism industries. Join us for an exclusive discussion with Australian and ASEAN business and policy leaders on getting ready for the expected massive growth in aviation in our region over the next 20 years. The discussion will focus on innovation in: 1. Infrastructure (terminals, airports) 2. Airline Operations 3. Travel Services Operations Massive Potential, Big Task Global market forecasts are that Asia Pacific, led by China, India and ASEAN, will be the global growth centre for the next 20 years, with the aviation industry playing a major role in realising the economic benefit for the region. For example, passenger growth is expected to be 150% - an additional 2.1 billion passengers – which is over 50% of the total growth globally. Challenges to realising the ‘full’ economic benefit are policy restrictions and operational constraints. On policy for example, both ASEAN and Australia have negotiated more liberal ‘open skies’ air service agreements with China, and considering similar with other countries in the region including with each other. But there are still significant market restrictions. Operationally, the rise of low cost carriers highlights the need for cost efficient terminals and airports, and the emergence of Industry 4.0 technologies creates opportunities to transform airline and travel services operations. ASEAN and Australia are close neighbours, with ASEAN strategically located at the centre of Asian growth engine between China and India. Addressing regional aviation market restrictions and establishing a digital Aviation 4.0 environment are key steps in getting ready to fully realise benefits from the aviation growth explosion in our region.
