THE EXPERIENCE YMCA School Age Care, Adventure Day Camp and Sports & Outdoor Camps allow children the opportunity to explore the outdoors, build friendships, develop new skills and discover their creativity. YMCA staff highlight teachable moments and emphasize accomplishments and successes in all participants.

SAFETY Our programs are safe and full of fun activities that allow for physical involvement, social interaction, educational opportunities, personal growth and creativity. All YMCA staff attend trainings that cover YMCA mission, character development and child abuse prevention. Adventure Day Camp staff are lifeguard certified.

LEARN, GROW, AND THRIVE Enjoy summer with the YMCA! There is something for everyone in our Summer School Age Program including swimming, weekly field trips, arts & crafts, S.T.E.M. experiments, reading and learning challenges. Your child will build relationships with our caring and nurturing staff as well as create lifelong memories with their peers. We offer the highest quality of youth programming by combining state licensing and Youngstar requirements while carrying out the Y Mission.

ONALASKA SUMMER SCHOOL BEFORE AND AFTER PROGRAMIn conjunction with Onalaska School District’s summer school program, we will offer a safe place for the kids to go before and after summer school. A morning breakfast and afternoon snack that reflects our healthy eating standards will be provided.

GOING BIG AT LONGFELLOW - A PLACE FOR OLDER KIDSAs a way to tailor programming toward the interests of older children, we encourage La Crosse families to enroll their older students (8years+) at the Longfellow Summer location. Longfellow is still open to all, including younger siblings, but parents may find this the perfect option for children looking for an older peer group and a more challenging Summer experience.

SUMMER SCHOOL AGE SWIM LESSONS We are pleased to offer swimming lessons this summer to our Summer School Age participants as part of their day at the YMCA! Below you will find session and price information. Financial assistance is also available for swimming lessons, the discount will be applied at the time of registration. Registration for Swim Lessons will be available at Summer School Age Registration.

MEALS In partnership with local school districts, the La Crosse Area Family YMCA seeks to ensure all children in our Summer School Age programs are provided nutritious meals each day.

• All students will have access to breakfast and an afternoon snack through the YMCA and/or local school district.

• Students at the following programs will also have access to a free lunch: Irving Pertzsch, Harry Spence, Emerson, Northern Hills, Northside, and Longfellow.

• Students at all other locations should bring a sack lunch each day.

We provide sunscreen (NO-AD 30SPF) for your child(ren).

This benefit is included in the weekly cost of our programming.

EXPERIENCE, EXPLORE, AND DISCOVER! Adventure Day Camp provides an exciting and diverse outdoor experience that will engage children throughout the summer! With each day comes a new opportunity for campers to discover the world around them through outdoor adventures. Caring and encouraging YMCA role models will lead campers through various weekly activities—including canoeing, hiking, fishing, teambuilding challenges, and outdoor education. With new friends and challenges around every corner, Adventure Day Camp is the perfect way to keep children engaged and learning throughout the summer.

OVERNIGHTCome find fun and friendship underneath the stars. Adventure Day Camp will be offering an overnight trip during the week of July 17-21. An additional fee of $7 will cover additional costs. Campers must already be registered for the week in order to attend.

Come Explore the YAs a way to enjoy some independence in a safe and supportive environment, campers can use the facilities throughout either YMCA branch after Adventure Day Camp has ended at 4:30pm. Every camper who chooses to explore the YMCA after 4:30pm will be introduced to the expectations for conduct and values, be given a tour of the YMCA facilities, and taught how to find information and schedules on their favorite rooms and activities!

BASEBALL & SOFTBALL CAMP

7-14 YEARS OLD Enjoy a week filled with baseball and softball. Improve your skills and have fun learning the great American pastime. This camp is for beginners and experienced players, boys and girls who will be in 1st-4th grade. Don’t have equipment? We can supply those who many not have a baseball glove. Let us take your son or daughter “out to the old ball-game.”

GOLF CAMP 7-16 YEARS OLD Learn a new sport and have some fun! This camp will teach the fundamentals of golf. We will start at the driving range and putting green and end with a real 9-hole course. The YMCA will provide clubs and transportation to the course. Participants are encouraged to bring their own clubs.

SOCCER CAMP 7-12 YEARS OLD Enjoy a week filled with soccer! Both beginner and experienced soccer players are welcome. This camp is for both boys and girls in 1st through 4th grade. Coaches will cover all basic individual skills: dribbling, passing, and shooting. Participants will also have the chance to play some games and learn team strategies. Score some goals, make new friends, and HAVE FUN!

FAMILY CAMPFAMILY CAMPING TRIPALL AGES WELCOME Enjoy quality time with your family in the outdoors! We will camp for one night at Perrot State Park in Trempealeau, WI. At this camp, families will enjoy hiking the trails, observing the wild life, learning how to set up a campsite, gazing at the stars, and singing around the campfire! There will be organized group time with two YMCA trained staff, and family free time to explore the park or just relax. Families who are new to camping, and experienced campers are welcome! At least one parent/guardian must attend with each family. Camping equipment (tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, etc), food (lunch & dinner on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday), vehicle admission stickers, and campground passes will be provided. You are welcome to bring your own camping equipment and snacks.

Program Dates: July 7-9 or August 4-6 Days & Times: Friday 6-7pm & Saturday 10am-Sunday 10am Location: Friday, at HOUSER Y to meet the other families we will be camping with. Saturday, at HOUSER Y to caravan to Perrot State Park (Site may change depending on availability).

Fee: $125 per family of 2 $25 for each additional family member (Max scholarship is 50% discount on the family rate)

YOUTH SPORTSBASKETBALL CAMP7-14 YEARS OLD Our basketball camp is for boys and girls. We will teach the fundamentals of basketball while having fun! Participants will work on skill development as well as game play. Don’t miss out on a great opportunity to learn the game of basketball. Coach Rich Johnson instructs the camp along with other great Y staff.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITIESFRISBEE CAMP 7-16 YEARS OLD Have fun and be active! This three-day camp will teach the basics of throwing a Frisbee with some added tricks. Learn the game of ultimate Frisbee and then go Frisbee golfing! Frisbees and discs will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring their own.

GEOCACHING CAMP 7-16 YEARS OLD Geocaching (pronounced geo-cashing) is a worldwide game of hiding and seeking treasure. Anyone with a GPS device can locate the geocache. GPS units will be provided by the YMCA for the camp. Staff ratio will be 1 staff : 5 campers. We will be searching for caches in locations such as Hixon Forest, Myrick Park marshes, and Goose Island Park. Transportation will be provided. Participants should be prepared to walk up to two miles throughout the day.

FISHING CAMP 7-16 YEARS OLD Get out and enjoy the outdoors! This camp will teach the basics of fishing. We will be picking kids up at DAHL Y and HOUSER Y and traveling to different fishing hot spots in the area. Transportation will be provided. Beginners and experienced anglers are welcome. Saturday will be a family day, and parents are invited to join in on the fishing fun. The YMCA will provide all necessary equipment for this camp, but participants are encouraged to bring their own fishing pole and tackle.

Program Dates: June 21-June 24 La Crosse: Wednesday-Saturday 7:30am-12pm (No transportation provided on Saturday) Location: Meet at DAHL Y and HOUSER Y for bus travel to fishing hot spots

CANOEING & KAYAKING CAMP7-16 YEARS OLD This camp teaches the basics of paddling. We mix instruction with expeditions and give your child an introduction to the world of paddling. Kids are picked up at both Y’s and will travel to different local rivers, lakes, and streams. Transportation will be provided. Beginners and experienced paddlers are welcome.

ART CAMP CULINARY ARTS SCHOOL 11+YEARS OLD Develop your cooking skills through experimenting in the kitchen and expanding your culinary palate. Read recipes, improve math and reading skills, and learn kitchen safety while having fun. Topics include knife skills, sauce basics, and sauté, baking, and roasting techniques. Each day includes a different theme with an entrée, side dish, and dessert. Camp includes all the fresh ingredients, recipe book, and an apron!

ART OF SEWING CAMP

9+ YEARS OLD Discover self-sufficiency and creative abilities through sewing. Basic stitches, sewing buttons, mending, and patching will be covered. Campers will create a pillow and book holder to take home.

PRESCHOOL CAMPMY Y CAMP4-6 YEARS OLD Summer is about creating lifelong memories of fun, friends, and laughter; that is what the “MY Y CAMP” weeks are all about. Each themed week will include crafts, experiments, games, and water play. Children will meet and start the day in large group play; they will also have the opportunity to be leaders, during small group activities, while exploring the week’s theme. The morning will end with a teamwork group activity, followed by a “discuss the day” lunch. Children should wear athletic shoes only. Bring a bag for towel and swimsuit, a bag lunch, and sunscreen your child. Water fountain available.

CANCELLATION:SCHOOL AGE AND ADVENTURE DAY CAMPIn order to receive a refund, cancellation must be made by Monday, two weeks prior to cancellation. State assisted and F/A will need to pay $20 per week per family to cancel. $20 registration payment is non-refundable. Please contact Kelsey Hess at 608.519.5478.

SPORTS & OUTDOOR CAMPSTransfers/Changes/Cancellations are allowed and free if done within the same day as registration. Transfers/Changes/Cancellations done next day or later are a $10 charge. Refunds will only be issued when the YMCA cancels a class due to low enrollment. The YMCA reserves the right to reschedule or combine classes and cancel up to one class without issuing a refund or voucher. No vouchers or refunds will be issued for classes missed or cancelled due to inclement weather or holidays.
