INVITATION TO MR. PETER COLEMAN’S ORDINATION
As you all now know, we are going to be getting another Deacon, to be
ordained on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in
Richmond at 10:30, by His Excellency Bishop Barry Knestout.
A deacon in one Parish was asked by a sincere parishioner seeking to
know who deacons are; ‘Are you one of us, or are you one of them?’ The
answer, of course, was neither,” he says. “I’m not a ‘supersized’ lay person nor a
‘mini priest.’ I’m a deacon.” Last weekend’s bulletin explained in depth who
exactly a deacon is, the origins of the permanent diaconate and their ministry.
This message is an invitation to attend Peter’s Ordination and to give you
the program to celebrate his ordination at both Sts. Peter and Paul Parish and
St. Josephs Parish.
Peter’s Ordination is going to take place at the Cathedral of the
Sacred Heart in Richmond, at 800 S. Cathedral Place, Richmond, VA 23220,
09/15/2018. It is about an hour and twenty minutes from Sts. Peter and Paul
Church. There will be two 12 seater vans for those who prefer not driving.
Please sign up if you wish to ride with the Van.
Deacon Peter then, will be assisting at the 5 pm Mass, on that same day,
and he will be the Homilist both on 09/15 and 09/16. After the 5:00 Mass, in
the Commons, we will have a dinner in honor of Deacon Peter.
On October 7th at St. Josephs, we are invited to continue cerebrating his
ordination after the 9:00 Mass.
Peter Coleman has been Chosen from among us and ordained for us. As
we have been supporting him with our prayers during his diaconal
formation, let us continue to shower our love and prayers to him in his
diaconate.
