FROM THE PRINCIPAL
AWARDS ON ASSEMBLY
It is a wonderful part of my job that I have the privilege of congratulating students on
achieving awards related to reading, and the school rules. I am very proud of the students of
Warrigal Road State School and we appreciate the parent involvement at our assemblies.
BIRTHDAYS
We are happy to celebrate students’ birthdays here at school by singing ‘Happy Birthday’ in
classrooms and by having a small celebration treat. However, our teachers cannot hand out
party bags to students in the class.
ROAD SAFETY
We continue to stress that road safety is a focus for our students, as it is in many schools.
Please talk to your child at home about the road safety messages that are being shared in class,
as the Deputy Principals go to classes to deliver FIT (Focussed Intensive Teaching) lessons.
The Deputy Principals are teaching the children about being safe before and after school on
the playgrounds (which are out of bounds at this time) and on the roads. Reinforcing our
message at home will help keep our children safe.
DI CARTER, PRINCIPAL
YEAR 4 CAMP
Below is a reflection from one of our happy campers:
Camp we were at three days ago,
Maps there weren't so the kids were like, "Whoa!"
Everything at camp was very cool.
The place was very good and the food made us drool.
Tallebudgera was better than you would expect,
Hello and byes there were lots and lots,
Eating was so delicious, yum yum yum!
Body boarding was the best activity,
Salt stung our skin, I could do it for infinity.
There was even a talent show for our eyes to feast,
Overall, Tallebudgera was beast!

GALA DAY RESULTS Girls Touch Football
Our Warrigal Senior A Touch Girls remain undefeated after Gala Day 2. The girls
displayed plenty of sheer speed and quick rucking throughout the day to dominate
their opposition. They started the day with a 7-3 win over Algester. Following this,
they defeated Runcorn Heights 5-2 before giving Stretton an 11-0 touch up. The
girls then finished the day with a 7-1 win over Sunnybank Hills. Well done girls,
it’s great to see your training sessions paying off. McDonald’s Awards went to
Emily and Christina.
The Junior A Touch Girls played extremely well on
Friday. They are a team that are new to the game but have picked up the rules quickly.
After missing Gala Day 1, these girls had a long day in the sun last week, having to
play 5 games throughout the day. The girls won their first two games 4nil against
Sunnybank Hills and Algester. They then played a quick Stretton side who managed to
even the scores, 2-2, just before the end of the game. Although starting to tire, the
Junior A girls managed to win their next 2 games, 5-0 and 1-0. Congratulations girls on
your fabulous start to the season. McDonald’s Awards went to Bethany and Karensa
MISS SARAH CURRIE
Boys Softball
On Friday 6 September, the Year 5 and 6 softball boys had their second Gala Day and it turned out to be a hot
one! Unfortunately both Senior A and B were defeated in all their games, with Senior A playing Runcorn
Heights (5-4), Sunnybank Hills (12-5) and Yeronga A (13-4). Senior B played Runcorn Heights (2-2),
Sunnybank Hills (14-7) and Yeronga B (5-4). The boys played extremely well considering the heat they were in
which got the best of them. Reuben D and Jophy Y from Senior A and Hamza M and Michael H from Senior B
received the Maccas awards for Gala Day 2.

RUNCORN ROCKETS BASKETBALL
Some of our Year 4 students have been fortunate enough to have Jason and
Kaila from the Runcorn Rockets Basketball Club teaching them various
basketball skills throughout the term. Jason and Kaila love to promote
basketball within schools and we are very grateful that they volunteer their
time to expose our Year 4 Warrigal students to the game of basketball. The
students are enjoying their weekly training sessions and getting a taste of what
team sport is all about. Next year for
Gala Days, these students will need to
decide what sport they might like to
represent Warrigal in, and basketball is one option available to them.
Participating in this program has been a great opportunity for these
students as they start to consider their chosen sport. Thanks Jason, Kaila
and Runcorn Rockets!
RUNCORN HIGH SCHOOL TOUCH ACADEMY
Our Warrigal Touch Teams have teamed up with the Runcorn High School Touch Academy students to
establish a coaching relationship. Each Monday, the academy students come to Warrigal to teach our 8 touch
football teams different skills and set plays that they can use in their games on gala days. Both Warrigal and
Runcorn Academy students are relishing their weekly training sessions and have developed a great rapport with
each other both at training sessions and on Gala Days. We thank
Runcorn High School for
this fabulous opportunity
given to our Warrigal
Touch Football Teams.
