Beth Porter & The AvailablesBeth is a very much in-demand cellist living in Bath. Drawingfrom her classical background and extensive and varied liveperformance experience, Beth creates a unique and refreshingly modern texture to her repertoire contrasting thecello and ukulele with a voice that will hold your attention rightdown to the last glorious note. When Beth plays with a band, they are The Availables and, as the name implies, they aremade up from a rotating number of some fine musicians.

Bristol Shanty MenThe Bristol Shanty Men proved a big hit with theirperformance at last year's festival and are backagain this year to run a workshop and perform onour outdoor stage.

The DragstersBack again by popular demand - the ultimate rock coversband, The Dragsters perform a heady mix of rock from the70s, 80s, 90s and 00s. With a new line up this year Benjibrings them back to perform another full-on heavy set. Theyhave a dedicated fan base which stretches fromSouthampton to Reading.

Freshly Ground are a freshly brewed ensemble of

eleven of the South West's best known folk singers, who'vecome together to perform English folk songs in glorious harmony, with arrangements written by the choir's instigatorIssy Emeney. K chevereK'Chevere are one of the UK's finest and upcomingLatin bands, formed specially to perform at an open-air concert for the Bath Fringe Festival 2000. Sincethen they have increased the line-up from 5-piece to 8and have performed with guest Latin artists at venuesin the UK. K'Chevere (Que Chevere in Spanish) is generally used in Latin America to describe good feelings, or anything good - exactly how the audienceis likely to feel during and after the performance.

Live Canon * are an ensemble performing poetry in the English

Language (and occasionally bursting into song). They bring poetry tolife. The performances aren't readings. The actors learn all the poetryand perform it from memory. They will be performing an Olympian programme of poems on Saturday evening in the church.

Mendip String BandFrom the heart of the Somerset Levels come thismelting pot of western swing, country boogie and hotblues rags - so prevalent in the pioneers of the westcountry flatland dwellers of the early thirties and forties. Peat bog boogies, tortured ballads of catastrophic crop failures and devastating floods givethis band a highly unique repertoire that is taking theWest Country by storm. Kevin Brown - lap steel/slideguitar, Joff Lowson - guitar, John Boston - fiddle &mandolin, Bill Crampton - upright bass.

Mike Dawes & Amy Turk *Mike Dawes & Amy Turk are guitar and harp likeyou've never heard before. Using a combined 53strings and several feet of wood they tap, slap, pluckand bash their instruments to create a unique andintricate sound. Influenced by everything from folk toblues to classical to rock, Mike Dawes & Amy Turkare a truly unique duo breathing new life into thesounds of the South.

Sarah Clough TrioWith Sarah Clough on vocals, this group play ‘a timeless fusionof stripped-down jazz and blues’.

Nicole FermieHeavy guitars, beautiful vocals and one of the most intense rhythmsections this side of the 70s makes Nicole Fermie an act not to betaken lightly. Hers is a sound harking back to the glory days ofParliament Funkadelic, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix, a powerfulmelody with one goal: to make you move. The songs talk of real life; ofparties and failed relationships, of innocence and excess, of life andlearning its lessons.

Philip Henry & Hannah MartinFast becoming recognised as one of the finest slide guitariststhe UK has produced, Phillip Henry is also a virtuoso on theharmonica. Regarded as, “one of the most extraordinary musicians around” (Steve Knightley - Show Of Hands), hebrings together folk melodies of the British Isles, blues, gospeland Indian music in his moving and original compositions. Hannah Martin is a singer, songwriter, fiddle-and-banjo playerfrom Devon. Commended by Mike Harding (BBC Radio Two)for her “really fantastic singing!”, her songs weave folklore andlegend with beautiful melodies.

repertoire ranges from classical interpretations of Concerto de Aranjuez, wild and earthy andsoul searching folk melodies and songs, through to the jazz favourites of Gershwin, Cole Porter,Hoagy Carmichel and Louis Armstrong. They will be performing in the village hall on Fridayevening. The concert will also highlight two talented young musicians: Alex Mayhew (jazz piano)and Arthur O'Hara (bass guitar/double bass).
