Dear Annelise

They say if life gives you lemons, make lemonade. A nice sentiment and well placed but you'd need a

juicer, wouldn't you? In keeping with the metaphor, a machine would assist in making the conversion as

quick, easy and painless as possible. Doing it yourself, hand squeezing would elongate the process; it

would be far too labourious and not much fun.

So in every day life, what is or who is the juicer? Friends, family, lawyers, associates - real estate

agents? - people who can help you turn the lemons into lemonade.

We have dealt with some people who have had a truckload of lemons delivered. The death of a spouse

or parent, the financial foreclosure due to business failure or similar, or even something as common as

divorce or relationship breakdown. We are the juice extractors for those people. I'm not saying we can

make lemonade for them but we can certainly sweeten a sour situation. Helping remove stress, giving

sound advice, referral to the other "juicers" to help them be helped.

Like people who have seemingly insurmountable credit card debt, they have a way out thanks to those

who specialise in debt consolidation and deal with the banks for you. Love it!

The message? Ask for help, the right kind of help. Not well meaning commiserations but well meaning

people who can help you do something about it! Don't squeeze your own lemons.
