About the speaker Dr. Pasquale Venuti received his DDS from the University of Naples “Federico II” cum laude in 1999. He works full time as a general dentist in a practice in Mirabella Eclano, Italy. In cooperation with Dr. David Clark, Dr. John Khademi and Dr. Marco Maiolino, he founded a group “Tomorrow Tooth” whose goal is to share Outcome-Based and Patient-Centered Dentistry. He lectures internationally on a variety of topics related to restorative dentistry, endodontics and prosthetic dentistry.

Restorative Oxymoron from Adhesive Dentistry to Vertical Crowns
You will learn:• A Safe Drilling Strategy for getting vertical finish lines.• To create an efficacious ferrule effect on the residual
dental structure.• To approach deep decayed margins (deep margin
acquisition, deep margin extension, vertical edgeless approach).
• The limits of adhesive dentistry.• How cracks initiate and propagate.
The workhorse of general dental practice is treating caries and cracks. The speaker aims to offer a comprehensive approach to the general dentist, sharing his 20 years of clinical experience. More emphasis will be put on the recent advancements in the field of Vertical Preparations for treating the residual dental structure: an efficacious remedy – to the prevailing “furor implantaris” – for the heavily damaged teeth. The preparation of the abutment using horizontal finish lines (shoulder and chamfer) has been widely used in the last three or more decades and acknowledged by the academic world as the gold standard. The development of new materials and equipment, as well as a better comprehension of soft tissue biology, has allowed us to “revive” the knife-edge finish line and the gingettage strategy (rotary curettage).
The main aims of the lecture are:• To demystify the “hypothesis” of periodontal damage from
vertical finish lines.• To show the biomechanical advantages of the vertical finish
lines, especially in endodontically treated teeth.• To introduce a completely new approach to designing and
managing the vertical finish lines.

About the speaker Dr. Mike Mew qualified as a dentist at the Royal London Hospital in 1993. After several years in general practice, community dentistry and facial surgery, he entered the renowned Orthodontic program at Aarhus University in Denmark, qualifying as a specialist dentist in 2004. He is particularly interested in the cause of crooked teeth and the Aetiology of Malocclusion. He is one of a few third-generation orthodontists and it is his mission to find cures to malocclusion and to understand the link between orthodontic problems and a range of other health issues through a new paradigm.

Craniofacial Dystrophy: Changing Faces, Curing Malocclusion and Obstructive Sleep Apnea
Changing faces, and with this curing malocclusion and associated symptoms like OSA (obstructive sleep apnea), will give a better start in life for children and a better approach to treating adults and furthermore it is evidence-based and improves health.
It is more comfortable to believe that the way that your craniofacial form has developed, and the arrangement of your teeth is genetic. However, the hard scientific evidence clearly shows that this is false. This issue is highly controversial and challenges 100 years of orthodontic theory and dogma. None of our ancestors, none of the members of the other 5,400 species of mammals and few truly indigenous peoples have malocclusion. For hundreds of thousands of years everyone attained and maintained 32 perfectly aligned teeth for their whole life.
Modern melting faces: there is now a considerable mismatch between the environment that we evolved to live in and the one that we do live in.
• The effort required to masticate our food is a fraction of what it was.
• Transient nasal obstructions are now normal forcing postural modifications which become habits.
• Pureed foods and a lack of breast feeding interrupt the natural change from an infantile suckle to an adult swallow.
Use it or lose it, modern faces are not fulfilling their full genetic potential, and faces that are not the right shape do not function correctly. We have an endemic of malocclusion, OSA, middle ear infections, deviated nasal septums, sinusitis, forward head posture and temporomandibular disorders. No one can demonstrate the causes, pathology or cure of any of these. It is estimated that 10% of 60 year olds will die a decade earlier from OSA alone, and 40 years ago it was almost unheard of; what will this percentage raise to in a decade or two?

About the speaker In 1985, Dr. August Bruguera became a dental technician from the dental school Ramón y Cajal in Barcelona. He is a specialist in dental prosthesis who is very active in the publication of different dental magazines and scientific journals both as a writer and as an editor. Furthermore, he is the author and co-author of two books and he has a dental training center in his laboratory where he conducts courses. He has had more than 500 lectures and courses in more than 50 countries. In 2014, he was invited to join the exclusive Bio-Emulation Group which works in the field of tissue preservative dentistry.

A New Perspective in Ceramic Restorations
The final success in a dental treatment is the result of the execution of a previously designed plan. Having a protocol and well-defined steps will be conclusive to carry out the work.
In this lecture, we will try to split those protocols into small steps that, when followed one after the other, will lead us to the final success. We will pay extra attention to the materials to be used for the rehabilitation. Function and aesthetics are the main parameters that will guide our choice, but the question we will try to answer is: Do these two parameters coincide in one simple material? We know in advance that an all-purpose material does not exist, so we will have to choose one in each case to satisfy both requirements.
Simultaneously, we will update the aesthetic parameters and we will review the shade concept and its communication going to the level 2.0 that present new technologies give us.
We will look for a protocol adapted to each case that provides us with tangible and reliable information while being aware that any type of communication between doctor and technician is sensitive to induce an error.
You will learn:
• To diagnose problems and find solutions: Aesthetic/functional diagnosis.
• Diagnostic waxing and provisionals, concepts of a smile composition.
• Assessment of the different restoring materials: What, when and why.
• How to transmit the accurate color information without any error.
