Share The Journey The Caritas Internationalis “Share the Journey” Migration Campaign began on September 27, 2017. Pope Francis is joined by bishops across the U.S. and around the world in launching a global campaign to support our brothers and sisters who have fled their homes seeking a decent and safe life for their families. This historic campaign, “Share the Journey,” responds to the needs of some of the most desperate of God’s children. Pope Francis has asked that all parishes pray the “Share the Journey” prayer for the next two years. You will find a laminated copy of this prayer in the pew pockets.

Compartir El Viaje La Campaña de Migración de Caritas Interna-tionalis “Compartir el viaje” empezó el 27 sep. 2017. Mary, Holy Mother of God Feast Day This year, because the feast of Holy Mary, Mother of God, falls on a Monday, the obliga-tion is abrogated, and we are only obligated to attend Mass on Sunday. That being said, this feast, celebrating Mary’s motherhood of Jesus Christ, is exceptionally beautiful. Those who observe this feast day will not regret it.

Santa María, Madre de Dios Este año, porque la fiesta de Santa María, Ma-dre de Dios, cae en lunes, la obligación esta abrogada, y solo estamos obligados a ir a Misa el domingo. New Hospitality Ministry In union with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, Our Lady of the Mountains requires us to provide safety for everyone who calls OLM their spiritual home. La Misión del Buen Samaritano Nuestra parroquia está involucrado en el mi-nistro de cocinar una vez al mes en la Misión local. Muchos parroquianos maravillosos se turnan para servir a estos individuos pobres, usualmente son 20 personas. ¿Por qué no considere uniéndose al grupo? ¡Equipos de 3 o 4 personas solo cocinan una o dos veces al año! Ese es el único compromiso, a parte de su tiempo. TODA la comida viene de la bodega de la Misión. Si tiene preguntas, por favor, hable a Susie Palmer, 733-6391, para saber más. Es una de las actividades más gratifican-tes que hemos hecho. Los comensales están tan agradecidos, serviciales, y humildes.

Good Samaritan Mission Our Parish is involved in the Ministry of cook-ing dinner once a month at our local Mis-sion. Many wonderful parishioners take turns to serve these less fortunate men and women, usually about 20 people. Won’t you please consider joining the group? Groups of 3 or 4 people cook only once or twice a year! That is the only commitment, other than your time. The food ALL comes from the Mission larders. If you have any questions, please con-tact Susie Palmer at 733-6391 for more infor-mation. This is one of the most rewarding things we have ever done. The diners are so appreciative, helpful and humble.

New Year’s Eve Mass We will celebrate Mass on New Year’s Eve at 11:30 p.m. in thanksgiving for the year that is just ending and in thanksgiving for the year that is just beginning.

Nativity Display on the Town Square From December 20 to January 1 Thanks to a faithful group of parishioners, a Nativity display will once again be set up on the south-east corner of the Town Square. Los Niños Jesús Nuestros hermanos no-mexicanos han preguntado sobre el significado de los Niños Jesuses que los parroquianos mexicanos traen a las Misas de Nochebuena. Cada familia tiene su propio niño, el cual lo traen al altar para que esté bendecido durante la Misa. Mientras el sacerdote bendice al niño, unos miembros de la familia mecen al bebe como una expresión de amor. Esta costumbre sagrada simboliza cómo la familia abraza totalmente al Niño Jesús en su vida espiritual. Esta tradición es una manera de adorar a Cristo en su nacimiento y en toda Su Divinidad y Su Humanidad.

Baby Jesus Figurines at Christmas Our non-Mexican brothers and sisters have inquired about the meaning of the Baby Jesus figurines that our Mexican parishioners bring to the Christmas Eve Masses. Each family has its own figurine, which it brings to the altar to have it blessed during the Mass. While the fig-urine is being blessed, some members of the family gently rock the baby as an expression of love. This sacred custom symbolizes how the family fully embraces the Baby Jesus into its spiritual life. This tradition is a means of ador-ing Christ at His birth and in all His Divinity and humanity.
