From the Pastor’s Desk

We are celebrating the fourth and final Sunday of Advent this weekend. The fourth candle on the Advent wreath is lit, allowing it to produce even more heat and light. The grace of this season of Advent is meant to make Christians more radiant as well. We are to glow with the supernatural love of Christ, whose coming we await with hope and joy. Keep in mind that our world is a very cold and dark place without the light of Christ. He has illuminated our lives – thanks be to God! Now he calls us to share what we have received with others. In this Year of Mercy, let us take seriously our responsibility to shed light in the lives of our neighbors, coworkers, family members, and friends, especially during the Christmas season. The Catholic Church recognizes that one day is not enough to celebrate and meditate upon the Savior’s birth, so we will be celebrating Christmas for a number of weeks. The Christmas decorations and hymns will remain in the Church until Sunday, January 10, which is the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord. To those who are traveling over the holidays, let me wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in advance! I will be praying much for all of our parishioners during this joyous time. The Sisters’ Corner

The novena of posadas will continue until Wednesday, December 23. We will meet in the church at 7:00 p.m. every day. Come join us as we prepare to receive our newborn King! (This event is in Spanish.)

Christmas Poinsettia Memorials are a way to remember our deceased loved ones, as well as decorate the church during the Christmas Season. If you would like, place a $10.00 donation

(Joint Organization for Inner-City Needs), St. Stephen’s Community House, Catholic Social Services, St. Francis Center, St. Lawrence Haven, St. Vincent Family Center, and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. You can help share in this important work by generously supporting the Catholic Charities this Christmas. World Day of Peace is January 1, and the theme of Pope Francis’ World Day of Peace message is “Overcome Indiffernce and Win Peace.” Once again, Pope Francis reminds

Este fin de semana estamos celebrando el cuarto y último domingo de Adviento. Encendemos la cuarta vela de la corona de Adviento para que produzca más calor y luz. La gracia de este tiempo de Adviento tiene la intención de hacer que los cristianos sean más radiantes también. Vamos a brillar con el amor sobrenatural de Cristo, cuya venida aguardamos con esperanza y alegría. Tengan en cuenta que nuestro mundo es un lugar muy frío y oscuro sin la luz de Cristo. The Knights of Columbus wish to thank everyone who gave blood last Sunday. We had a good turn out for this holiday

season. The next blood drive will be on Sunday, February 14. Please consider giving blood then. The Knights of Columbus will be having their famous pancake breakfast on Sunday, January 3. The breakfast will be held in

the school cafeteria from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The cost is only $8, and it’s all you can eat!

All Saints Academy Catholic School
