Not only does the Itty Bitty Open serve as a great introduction to the game of golf, but it is a lot of fun for parents and kids alike. The event's 15 locations throughout the valley had great participation with over 650 kids in attend-ance. The Junior Golf Association of Arizona would like to thank its sponsors, The Thunderbirds and the City of Phoenix Parks & Recreation, as well as the volunteers, for their over-whelming support each year. The JGAA kicked off its 2014 season with the New Year's Shootout on January 11, hosted by Roll-ing Hills G.C., Toka Sticks G.C., and Ken McDonald G.C. With over 120 players competing, it was a great way to start the year. Thank you to all of the golf courses for their hospitality and thank you to our many volunteers who came out to help. None of what the JGAA does would be possi-ble without everyone's involvement. Congratulations to the champions in each division!

LPGA-USGA Girls Golf of Phoenix members spent the morning of February 3rd with Stacey Lewis at Wildfire Golf Resort to kick off the return of the unique Founder’s Cup event which takes place March 18th – 23rd. Members ranging in age from 7-17 asked questions of Stacey as she thoughtfully responded by sharing her personal experiences on her road to success. Each girl created her own question and was able to engage with Stacey and local media personalities including Channel 3 news.
Following the Q and A session, the group gathered on the practice range to watch Stacey hit drives, pitch and trick shots that you might see on the Big Break! Stacey was first to break the pane of glass with her iron shot but was soon followed by other girls golf members in shattering the second pane!
One of our lucky girls golf members was asked to take part in an interview on Channel 3 airing later that evening in the sports segment which can be viewed below.
The event takes place March 18 – 23 and will again show-case our members representing all LPGA-USGA Girls Golf programs in an effort to raise funds for the girls golf programs through the LPGA Foundation. Numerous opportunities will be offered throughout the week for the LPGA-USGA Girls Golf of Phoenix members which will be updated regularly on the front page of the website at www.girlsgolfofphoenix.org.
