COLLEGE PLACEMENT SEMINAR APRIL 17TH
Growing up in the Phoe‐nix area, Brianna began playing golf at the JGAA when she was just 9 years old. She also par‐ticipated in the LPGA‐USGA Girls Golf Program throughout her junior career as she learned to love the game of golf. Later in her career, she earned a full athletic scholarship to Colorado State, from where she recently graduated in
May 2012. During her collegiate career, she won Ram Player of the Year her junior and sen‐ior year, setting records for lowest season scor‐ing average and lowest career scoring average. She also qualified for NCAA Regionals with her team in 2010 and as an individual in 2011 and 2012. Welcome to the JGAA team!

April 6‐7th the Junior Golf Association of Arizona was in Tucson, AZ for their annual Tucson Spring Championship hosted at the Silverbell Golf Course. The Tucson Con‐quistadores, a good friend of the JGAA, was once again sponsoring the tournament which they have been doing for many years. The Tucson Conquista‐dores have been in existence for over 50 years, continuing to help and support junior golf and many other worthwhile charities in Southern Arizona communities. We are very pleased to have the sup‐port of the Tucson Conquistadores and look forward to their continued support in the coming years. To read more about the Tucson Spring Championship click here.

April 27‐28th, the Junior Golf Association of Arizona is proud to host its annual Quintero Cactus Cup at the beautiful Quintero Golf Club. This prestigious event was first held in May of 2001. The Quintero Cactus Cup is a competition of two 10‐player teams ‐ 5 boys and 5 girls on each team. Teams are comprised of players who have excelled during the 2012 JGAA summer tournament sea‐son. Invitations will be extended to the top eight boy and girl fin‐ishers in the 2012 Player of the Year points standings in the Cham‐pionship Divisions. In addition, each team captain will be allowed to select one boy and one girl as "captain's picks". All participants must be current JGAA members and competing in the Champion‐ship Division. Two JGAA Tournament Staff Members will serve as team captains. There is nothing better than a little friendly compe‐tition. This is a tournament favorite of many of our JGAA Alumni and will continue to be a cherished tradition for future members. To read more about the Quintero Cactus Cup click here.

Over 50 girls turned out to play in the LPGA‐USGA Girls Golf of Phoenix annual Easter Tournament at Arizona Golf Resort. Winners in the divisions included Jacquelyn Porman, Ellie Porman, Madeleine Laux, Madeleine Lee, Mattie Lamb, Carrie Doss, Kayla Zeigler and Annika Miyata. In addition, the These Girls Rock! Clinic, which took place prior to the event, was a huge hit. Thirty girls learned about the "games" of golf from LPGA professional Peggy Briggs and the staff from the First Tee of Phoenix. Many arrived with golf clubs in hand, and others came with great antici‐pation of their first experience at the golf course. Girls focused on distance control and target while playing games and interacting with similarly‐aged girls in a so‐cial atmosphere.
The next LPGA‐USGA Girls Golf Tournament is scheduled for April 20 at Rolling Hills Golf Course, followed by the annual Mother‐Daughter Brunch and Tournament at Shalimar Golf Course. Don't delay in signing up!
The next These Girls Rock! Clinic is scheduled for May 11 at Shalimar Golf Course in conjunction with the Mother‐Daughter Tournament. For more
information or to sign up for the FREE clinic, contact LPGA‐USGA Girls Golf of Phoenix at 602‐944‐6168 or The First Tee of Phoenix at 602‐305‐7655.
It was a very successful Easter weekend for JGAA members Krystal Quihuis and George Cunningham as
they conquered the competition at their respective tournaments. Hosted at Longbow Golf Club, Quihuis
won the AJGA Winn Grips Heather Farr Classic by shooting scores of 69‐70‐69 to win over a highly com‐
petitive field. Across the country, Cunningham also fought for his ti‐
tle at the AJGA TaylorMade‐adidas Golf Junior at Innisbrook hosted
by Sean O'Hair by posting scores of 75‐69‐70 to win by 2 strokes. The
Junior Golf Association of Arizona is very proud of its Arizona juniors!
