The Charter and Founders teams had a great time at the annual Quintero Cactus Cup hosted by Quintero Golf & Country Club. Af-ter the first round of team matches, the Foun-ders team led the Charter team 4-1. However, the afternoon proved to be difficult for the Founders to maintain their lead and the Charter team charged ahead, leading 6-4 overall going into the final round of singles matches. After their disappointing second round of team matches, the Founders team fought back during Sunday’s singles matches, dominating 7 ½ - 2 ½, and ulti-mately winning the championship 11 ½ - 8 ½! Congratulations to all of the players who played hard out there! It was a great competi-tion!

PETEFISH WINS 2013 ARIZONA STROKE PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP

Page 5

Volume 1, Issue 5

The Junior Golf Association of Arizona would like to congratulate our junior mem-ber Chris Petefish on his win at the 2013 Arizona Stroke Play Championship hosted at the TPC Scottsdale. Even after a spectacular week on the golf course, Petefish still had to battle for his title in a 3 hole playoff with opponent Cory Bacon after shooting rounds of 68-67-73-74, for a total of 282. This is a very prestigious event in the state of Arizona and the JGAA is quite proud to see one of its members dominating in the highly competitive field. Congratulations to Chris and all of his hard work.

JGAA MEMBERS CONTINUE THEIR GOLF CAREERS IN COLLEGE

Page 6

KEVIN GOLDSTEIN JACQUELYN PORMAN DANIEL BONNELL

As junior golfers approach their senior year of high school, a decision must be made as to how they want to spend their next 4 years of college. With scholarship opportunities for young athletes becoming more and more competitive these days, it is a prideful moment when junior golfers choose to continue their golf careers at the colle-giate level. The life of a student-athlete is not an easy path, but we commend those who choose to take on this re-warding challenge. The following JGAA members have recently accepted opportunities to do just that, become collegiate student-athletes starting in the Fall. The Junior Golf Association of Arizona is very proud of its mem-bers and wishes them nothing but the best in their future endeavors.

Congratulations, 2013 Seniors!
