TRACK WOES CONTINUE AT SANTA ANITASanta Anita Park announced the cancellation ofSunday's races, including the GII San Antonio H. due towet weather conditions. The Super Bowl Sunday cardhad a scheduled first post of 11 a.m. PST, but, withrain forecast for most of the day, officials conferredwith jockeys, trainers and track maintenance officials, and decided to pull the plug on the nine-race card at8:45 a.m. The SanAntonio, featuring anine-horse field in-cluding StudentCouncil and Awe-some Gem, has beenrescheduled for Feb. 9. AThis deci-sion was really madefor the safety of thehorses and riders,@Santa Anita Presi-dent Ron Charlessaid. AWe also wantto get the track done...If you weigh everything, it wasan easy call. As a racing fan, we really would have likedto race today...We=re still shooting for [racing] nextFriday. I have a feeling we=re going to know pretty wellwhere we=re going to be either by Monday afternoon orTuesday morning as to how good Friday looks.@ Charlesadded, AIt might have been possible to get one or tworaces in, but with the safety issue, and too much wateraccumulating in certain areas, this is not a dirt trackwhere we can manipulate a lot of it...hopefully, this isthe last day we=re going to have to do this.@ SantaAnita had already cancelled the Monday and Thursdaycards this week in order to allow the Cushion Tracksurface to be amended with Pro-Ride synthetic polymerand binder. Live racing is slated to resume Friday at 1 p.m. with Pick Six carryover of $181,514.

‘GRACE’ LOOKING AT LAS VIRGENES If theweather and the polymers oblige, Grace Anatomy(Aldebaran) will make her next start in Saturday=s GILas Virgenes S. going a mile at Santa Anita. Knock onwood, we=re ready to roll,@ said trainer Doug O=Neill.

Third to Country Star in the GIDarley Alcibiades S., the bay fillydidn=t handle the slop when sev-enth in the GI Breeders= Cup Juve-nile Fillies, and closed out her sea-son with a lackluster eighth in theGI Hollywood Starlet S. Dec. 15.AFrankie Dettori [her jockey in theBreeders= Cup] said she never gota hold of the track from the wordgo,@ O=Neill explained. AThe race atHollywood, we loved her. Shetrained on the track good, but shewas horsing on us leading into the

race, and she had her mind on other things, if youknow what I mean.@ Grace Anatomy returned to formwith a sharp second in the GIII Santa Ysabel S. Jan. 13,and will be tough to handle in the one-mile LasVirgenes, a race that launched Rags to Riches to fame ayear ago.

INFORMED DECISION TO DAVONA DALE In-formed Decision (Monarchos) will make her next start inthe Mar. 2 GII Davona Dale S. at Gulfstream. The three-year-old filly, a 6 1/2-length maiden winner atGulfstream Jan. 3, remained unbeaten when she inher-ited the victory over J Z Warrior in a Hallandale allow-ance Saturday (video). John Velazquez, aboard In-formed Decision Saturday, lodged a claim of foulagainst J Z Warrior and jockey Kent Desormeaux afterhis mount was hit across the face by Desormeaux=swhip inside the final sixteenth of the 6 1/2-furlong race.ARegardless of the DQ, I think it was a great effort,@said trainer Jonathan Sheppard. AWe wanted to seewhat would happen and it=s pretty clear she=s gettingbetter as we gradually add distance. The Davona Daleis coming up in a month=s time. I think we will definitelylook at that.@

GOLDEN SPIKES COULD BE FOUNTAIN BOUNDGolden Spikes (Seeking the Gold) may have earned areturn trip to the graded-stakes ranks after a determinedrunner-up effort behind Cool Coal Man in a Jan. 26allowance at Gulfstream Park (video). AWe haven=tdecided for sure what=s next,@ trainer Marty Wolfsonsaid Sunday morning. ARight now I=m leaning towardthe [Feb. 24 GII] Fountain of Youth because that giveshim four weeks rather than three if we went to TampaBay [for the Feb. 16 Sam Davis S.]. Those are the twooptions we=re looking at.@ Golden Spikes was fourth inhis sophomore debut in the Jan. 5 GII Hutcheson S.Owned by M375 Thoroughbreds Inc. and Suarez RacingStable, the bay colt was produced by a half-sister toGrade I winners Cash Run and Forestry.

Millennium Wind Added to Millennium Rewards Program: Millennium Wind (Cryptoclearance) has been added tothe Millennium Rewards program launched Jan. 1 byMillennium Farms owner Ro Parra. Millennium Wind, owned by Millennium Stallions, stands at Suzie and Dr.Linwood O=Cain=s Highcliff Farms in Delanson, NewYork. The 10-year-old stallion=s fee is $5,000. "Millen-nium Farms' frequent breeder rewards program is themost innovative and forward-thinking plan to ever beintroduced into the Thoroughbred breeding industry,"said Suzie O'Cain. "Millennium Farms should be con-gratulated for developing this concept, which supportsbreeders--whether they breed to sell or to race. This is ahuge benefit, which helps to offset some of the ex-penses incurred by broodmare owners. Highcliff Farm isexcited about being able to offer this program to NewYork breeders who have bred to Millennium Wind in thepast or are considering breeding to him in 2008." Parraadded, AWe are pleased to welcome Millennium Wind toour rewards program. This gives breeders in New Yorkand throughout the Mid-Atlantic region an opportunityto participate in the program, thus earnings points thatcan ultimately be redeemed to breed to a Millenniumstallion."
