Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park: Located ap-

proximately 40 miles from New York City, FDR

appeals to both local an region-wide visitors

who use the park for a wide variety of pasmesand acvies. The park hosts about 40 special

events annually.

This 841 acre park, then known as Mohansic

Park, was originally established as a county

park in 1922 on the former site of the pro-

posed Mohansic State Hospital. In 1957, New

York State acquired the property. To honor the

centennial of Franklin D. Roosevelts birth, it

was renamed in 1982.

Set beside Mohansic Lake, FDR State Parkoers:

Walking trails through the woods or along

park roads

Fishing and boang on Mohansic Lake

Picnic areas and pavilions which can be

reserved for a fee

Playground with climbing walls, swings and

more!

Basketball courts, soccer elds, and an 18-

hole disc golf course

Space for special events Swimming pool (seasonal) - the largest in

NY State Parks

Sledding hill (seasonal)

Ice shing (seasonal)

Concession stands (seasonal)

Donald J. Trump State Park was donated by

Donald Trump in 2006. There are two undevel-

oped parcels: Indian Hill282-acres in north-

ern Jeerson Valley, and French Hill154-acres

in southern Yorktown Heights

A Friends Group

Is organized to support, assist and promote the

mission, acvies, properes and facilies of aparcular park .

Consists of movated people in the community

who understand the value and benets of a state

park and provide community outreach and re-

source development and preservaon based on

the needs of the park. A friends group does not

create policy, but provide park management the

means for the enhancing programming oered at

park facilies.

Will help organize volunteers who would like to

see changes made at the park to enhance the

stewardship of the natural resources of the park

and help visitors explore and discover.
