For the first time in January 2014 we helped the RSPB

to identify what wildlife is living in our green spaces and how many there are. For example only 3% of people saw red squirrels in their garden whereas grey squirrels were seen in 73% of gardens. By taking part this year you can really help to expand the RSPB’s knowledge of wildlife in our country so they can do more to protect the most vulnerable species.

How can I help?Over the weekend of the 24th and 25th of January, pick an hour and tell the RSPB what you can see in your garden. Simply use the online bird watching tool at www.rspb.org.uk and record the birds directly as you see them on your computer.

If you’ve got bird food available in your garden at least a week before Birdwatch weekend you should be able to attract birds to your garden so you can take part.
