Welcome to Aunt Velda’s farm, Flat Stanley. I live a few miles outside of San Antonio in a very small town called Quihi (kweehee). The town is very old and was settled by people from Alsace-Lorraine which is in France on the border with Germany.

This is the old Quihi General Store. It was built in the 1850’s from stone. The road next to the farm and the store was once used by General Santa Ana’s men. General Santa Ana was the commander of the Mexican forces at the Battle of the Alamo. Aunt Velda is going to take you to the Alamo.

Can you see the rock and wood the old store is made from?

Our trip to San Antonio was fun. We walked along the San Antonio River and saw the boats float under the bridge.

Flat Stanley waved at the people on the boat. Good job Flat Stanley!

Wow! The Alamo. The Alamo is an important place to all Texans. Col. William Barrett Travis, Davy Crockett, Jim Bowie and 184 defenders lost their lives in the fight for Texas independence from Mexico.
