IWhat types of fireworks are there?There are lots of different names of fireworks like 'peony', 'palm' and 'horsetail'. Rockets go high up in the sky. The cakes and candles go a little way up. Catherine wheels and the shaped fountains stay on the ground. A few fireworks are quiet or even silent, like the lancework ones. But a lot are loud and make all sorts of noises. You might hear 'whizz', 'pop', 'bang', 'weeeeeeee', 'crackle' and 'fizz'! Garden fireworks are the ones used at home.

FireworksFireworks NightFireworks Night is celebrated on the 5th of November, but many people also set off fireworks on other days over October and November.

Lots of people go to towns, villages and cities to watch bigfireworks displays or light their own at home. Some have musicon a theme, such as space. There are even songs named after fireworks, like 'Firework' by Katy Perry.

When do people use fireworks?

Fireworks were invented more than 2000 years ago in China. China make the most fireworks in the world. The first known fireworks in England were in 1486. People use fireworks to celebrate at festivals, New Year, Diwali and birthday celebrations. There are also fireworks competitions.
