CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS

LIGHT FABRIC CUT:(2) 10-7/8” squares. Sub-cut each one once diagonally into (4) HST (Half-square triangle).(2) 19-5/8” squares. Sub-cut each one twice diagonally into (8) QST (Quarter-square triangle).(4) 12-1/2” squares.(12) 1-1/2” squares.

DARK FABRIC CUT:(16) 1-1/2” x WOF strips. Sub-cut into (28) 1-1/2” x 12-1/2” rectangles. (4) 1-1/2” x 13-1/2” rectangles, and (4) 1-1/2” x 14-1/2” rectangles.(6) 2-1/4” x WOF strips for binding.

Sew the quilt together as illustrated in the following pages. Lay out the blocks as on the following page in any order that you want. The illustrations are just suggestions.

4. Sew corner units to center unit, matching seams. Press to corner units.

5. Layer quilt , batting, and pieced backing.

6. Sew the dark 2-1/4” fabric strips together with diagonal seams. Fold strips in half lengthwise, wrong sides together. and sew binding on the quilt using a French binding technique and mitering corners as you sew. Fold binding strips to the back and sew down by hand.

2. Sew the four corners with the final 4 corner blocks. Sew QSTs to 1-1/2” x 12-1/2” sash and to block.

3. Sew the 1-1/2” x 14-1/2” sash to the top then sew the HST. Press to sash.
