LOVE
I am sitting here, my thoughts circling
around the theme LOVE.
I want to write about love – about being
a human being, about the feelings and
emotions within me, about the feelings
and emotions I project, about being a
woman, about being a wife, about being
a mother, about being a friend.
I want to write about moments I regard
as gifts, perfect moments or worst
moments. I had experienced all kinds of
emotions – love, hope, anger, jealousy,
rage, and sadness.
I’m a person who refuses to be still. I’m
a person who hopes for something
different every time. No success
satisfies me, no happiness hushes me.
All the time, I am trying to change
myself.
Some mornings I decide to leave love.
I’m tired of being the meek and the
humble. I’m tired of being quiet.
Sometimes I like to explode and emit all
the other emotions bottling in me. So I
shout and I explode with rage, fury,
jealousy and indifference. After a while,
they all leave me and I’ll be quiet again.
I live, rejoice, grieve, become furious
and yet there is something within me
that refuses to leave. There is always
that LOVE in my heart that will always
stay intact and will always be there.
It is a faint voice within me full of
yearning, full of emotions, full of love,
telling me…..give out this love. You’re
full of love. Share it with others.
I don’t want to heed it because I know,
listening to this faint voice; I can sit and
find peace. With this peace, I can live
with my family, with my friends, with
my community.
LOVE, I know, conquers all the other
emotions in me. I will continue to listen
to this faint voice within me. I will
continue to LOVE.

THE MEANING OF LOVE
It is sharing and caring,
Giving and forgiving,
Loving and being loved,
Walking hand in hand,
Seeing through each other’s eyes,
Laughing together,
Weeping together,
Praying together,
And always trusting
And believing
And thinking God
For each other…
For love that is shared
Is a beautiful thing –
It enriches the soul
And makes the heart sing!
AN INVITATION FROM OUR
LORD

AND THE LORD SAID: GO!
AND THE LORD SAID…GO!
And we said who, us?
And He said Yes, You, And we said,
But we’re not ready yet
And there is company coming
And we can’t leave the kids
And He said you’re stalling
AND THE LORD SAID… GO!
And we said we don’t want to,
And He said I didn’t ask
If you wanted to.
And we said,
Listen, we’re not that kind of people
To get involved in controversy
Besides our family won’t like it,
And what will our neighbors think?
And He said Baloney.
And yet a third time the
Lord said go,
And we said do we have to,
And He said do you love me?
And we said, look we’re scared,
People are going to hate us
And cut us up into little pieces
And we can’t take it all by
Ourselves,
And He said
Where do you think I’ll be?
AND THE LORD SAID GO!

Bro. Edwin Badua – Rector Cursillo #84
Dear Brothers in Christ,
We know that evangelization is
important to the Lord because it was the
last command he gave to us before he
ascended into heaven:
“Go into the whole world and proclaim
the gospel to every creature” (Mark
16:15).
We also know that GOD rejoices when
someone lost comes back to Him. Jesus
tells us: “There will be more joy in
heaven over one sinner who repents than
over ninety-nine righteous people who
have no need of repentance” (Luke 15:7).
What best way for a CURSILLISTA to
do this than to serve this coming Men’s
Cursillo weekend for 2011. Therefore, I
am personally inviting you to serve for
Cursillo 84.
Evangelizing is hard work. It takes effort
and planning on our part both spiritually
and physically. Thus the creation of the
Theme and Mission statement for
Cursillo # 84:
CURSILLO # 84
Theme &
Mission Statement
H Humility – quality or
condition of being humble;
modest; recognizing that
without GOD we are nothing.
O Obedience – state or
quality of being obedient.
Complying with or submissive
to one in authority, GOD.
P Perseverance – steady persistence in ones
course of action in spite of
difficulties or obstacles.
E Endearment – the
act of endearing; that which
endears; an action or utterance
showing affection.
HOPE
The feeling that
what is desired is
also possible, or
that events may
turn out for the
best; to believe,
desire, or trust.
What is this
hope? It’s the
4
hope that one
day we will all
enjoy eternal life
in heaven, in
union with GOD
and all believers.
“If today you hear his
voice, harden not your
hearts”.
Hebrews 3:15
In response to the call of the Blessed Trinity to righteously
serve, we must stand before Him
with humble hearts and open minds; obedient to all His will and
to persevere when convenient and
inconvenient. So that in the end, our offerings of word and action
is an endearment to GOD and
others.
Welcome and thank you for your sincere
desire to serve. Cursillo # 84 will be held
on October 20 to 23rd at Aptos,
California.
I look forward to seeing you during our

commitment.
We are called the “Servant team”, as we
are here to serve our LORD. What best
way to do that than to serve one another
and most specially our future brothers,
who we will call candidates until such
time that they graduate. Appropriately,
5
our Theme song is called the “Servant
Song”.
We will do everything to the best of our
ability for them and to one another for
the love of serving our LORD.
Additionally to ensure the integrity of
Cursillo #84, I have reached out to
several brothers who belong to different
Teams of the FCC (Filipino Cursillo
Community). These brothers played a
vital importance in the preparation of
our Team Formation. Decision was made
to set aside 2 days of our Formation
Meetings (out of 10 meetings), to focus
on our Spiritual Formation, which is
essential to prepare us for the activities
and events of the 3 day weekends of the
Men’s Cursillo for this year.
It is my honor to present the other

of us and for the effort we will put forth
to make HIS weekend a success.
Your Brother in Christ,
Bro. Edwin Badua

ANTIOCH TEAM – 21st ANNIVERSARY
On February 23, 1990, a group of brother and sister Cursillistas headed by Bro. Mario
and Sister Pat Camorongan, started the Antioch Team. This was made possible
because of the support from our late Bro. Rem Declines (Bro. Mario’s Rector – Cursillo
#34) and Sis Lorna Declines, Bro. Papa Ben and Sis. Mama Bell Padua, Bro. John and
Sister Naty Mendoza, to name a few.
From there, the seed that was planted blossomed and bore fruit. Many Cursillo weekends
passed, Antioch Team’s memberships has grown tremendously because of the Team
members’ commitment to service, love for each other, and the Lord is at the center of it
all. Because of their love and commitment, the Antioch Team did not only blossom, but
it also multiplied.
Through the undying commitment of the team representatives (past and present) who
withered the long highway 4 commute and sometimes the long and arduous hours of
evening Secretariat meetings, they continue to grow spiritually with each other.
The responsibility as a Team Representative was shared amongst their members after
Bro. Mario turned over the baton. The following brothers and sisters took part as
follows: Brothers Dado Hernandez, Mike Isidro, Enrich Padua, Celso Perez, Rey
Dollete, Vic Ramos, Sister Josephine Herrera, and at present Sister Kathrina Parungao.
Bro. Mike and Sis. Evelyn Isidro with the support of Antioch Team, spear-headed the
formation of the Verbum Dei Team (an offshoot of the Antioch Team) a few years ago.
On behalf of the Filipino Cursillo Community of the Diocese of Oakland, we
congratulate the Antioch Team members on their 21st Team Anniversary. We pray the
Lord shower his blessings upon them as they continue living their journey in their
Cursillo fourth day.
