Runner Block Assembly Instructions Note: The arrows in figures represent the fabric print direction. Also, pay attention to the orientation of the fabrics and units when assembling the various components.
1. Sew (1) 2 ½” x 10 ½” Fabric B strip to each side of (1) 8 ¾” x 10 ½” Fabric A block. Sew (1) 2 ½” x 12 ¾” Fabric B strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric A block. Trim the block to measure 11” x 12 ½” to make (1) Block One rectangle (Fig. 1). Repeat to make (4) Block One rectangles total.
2. Sew together (1) 4 ¼” Fabric D triangle and (1) 4 ¼” Fabric E triangle to make (1) DE triangle. Sew together (1) 4 ¼” Fabric E triangle and (1) 4 ¼” Fabric D triangle to make (1) ED triangle. Sew together the DE triangle and ED triangle along the long side to make (1) Unit 1 square (Fig. 2). The unit should measure 3 ½” square. Repeat to make (6) 3 ½” Unit 1 squares total.
3. Repeat Step 2 and refer to Figure 3 for fabric identification, placement and orientation to make (6) 3 ½” Unit 2 squares.
4. Sew together (2) Unit 1 squares and (2) Unit 2 squares, alternating them, to make (1) Unit 3 strip (Fig. 4). Repeat to make (3) Unit 3 strips total.
