WIGGLES & GIGGLESSpecially designed for 1 ½ to 3-year-old children who have

not met many other children. You and your child will enjoy

age appropriate ac�vi�es, music, stories, and

cra�s, while mee�ng other parents and their

children. Children will also par�cipate in an

unstructured play�me. Each parent assists

with his/her child's ac�vi�es. Children meet

once a week for an hour. Instructor: Andrea

FRED'S ART CLASSES FOR KIDS

Learn: Drawing, colored pencil, pen & ink. Perform

cartooning, acrylic pain�ng & more. Each session, students

will build on what they have learned. New students will start

ar�st and appreciate art!

B.L.A.S.T. Babysi� er's Learning & Safety Training

This educa�onal and fun program will teach boys or girls

the responsibili�es and quali�es of being a good babysi� er

and what to expect of the people who hire you. Learn how

to make good, responsible decisions and how to supervise

children from infants up through school age; adjust your

ac�ons based on the age of the child(ren) in your care.

Learn how to keep children and yourself safe in the house

and outside. Learn how to choose safe and age-appropriate

toys and games; handle an emergency or illness; perform

basic first-aid; and perform basic care rou�nes like

diapering, feeding and dressing babies and more.

Middle School 7th & 8th grade students. Each dance

Loca�on: Lincoln Center Banquet Hall

Fee: $5 at the door

Notes: Par�cipants must show a school ID with photo or a

parent must show their photo ID with Highland residency

to get into the dance. No par�cipants will be admi� ed

a�er 7:30pm. Parents should plan on picking their

children up at 9pm sharp. The Highland Middle School

dress code will be enforced.

YOUTH BASKETBALLThe goal of this league is for boys and girls to learn the

fundamentals of basketball while having FUN. Each team

will be coached by a parent/volunteer and will play a

10-game season. Volunteer coaches are always needed. If

you would like to be a volunteer coach, there is a sec�on you

can fill out on the program's registra�on form. Teams will

be determined by a player dra� with the coaches. All

players receive a T-shirt. League consists of 3 divisions:

Grades K & 1, 2 & 3, 4 & 5.

Level: Grades K through 5

EVP MIDDLE SCHOOL®

VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE

Does your child want to con�nue playing volleyball a�er the

school season is complete? Interested in playing

compe��ve volleyball without the travel? Then, our

volleyball league is a perfect for your child to enjoy with

their friends! The first two weeks, all players will learn and

improve in the fundamentals of volleyball including:

passing, se� ng, spiking, and overhand serving. By the third

week, the players will be split into teams and will begin

playing games against each other. For the final five weeks,

the beginning of each session will be a short prac�ce �me

and then the remaining �me will be a coached. The league

will be limited to 30 players to ensure everyone gets the

necessary a� en�on and opportuni�es to succeed. The cost

of the league includes 15 hours of coaching and a T-shirt!

INTRO TO DIGITALPHOTOGRAPHYLearn the fundamentals of photography—composi�on,

exposure, ligh�ng, & basic portraiture. Using digital

cameras, you will learn how to take be� er photographs of

subjects that interest you. Through lecture, individual

assignments, and group discussion of your results, hone

your skills and learn how to go from simply taking snapshots

to exercising full crea�ve control for making beau�ful

images. Min 5/Max 10. Instructor: Nick Zivanovic.

all skill levels. Players must be 18 years of age or older and

cannot also be par�cipa�ng in high school sports.

MEN’S OPEN BASKETBALLLEAGUELeague consists of a regular season and an end of season

tournament. Teams are guaranteed at least 10 games in the

league. Teams must provide their own shirts/jerseys that

are the same or similar in color with numbers on the back.

When registering you must provide us with your jersey color

to avoid duplicates.

A Tri-Kappa sponsored a�ernoon filled with fun, games,

The movements used in ke� lebell exercise can be

dangerous to those who have back or shoulder problems, or

a weak core. However, if done properly they can also be

Mee�ngs

Anyone 55 years or older are invited to a� end these twice-

per-month mee�ngs (except for June, July, & August when

there is only one mee�ng). The mee�ngs are held the

second and fourth Thursday of each month at 1 pm at the

Lincoln Community Center. Mee�ngs may consist of guest

speakers, door prizes, & bingo. Throughout the year special

holiday luncheons or picnics are held for members. Baked

goods are provided by our members through the baking

commi� ee. A� endees will be asked to sign up to bake.

Transporta�on

Certain elderly and handicapped persons in the greater

Hammond area may be eligible for limited basis

transporta�on services. For more informa�on call LCEOC

of Highland also sponsors a subsidized taxi program for

seniors and handicapped. Eligible riders can get a half price

A nutri�on site is offered at the Lincoln Community Center

weekdays from 9 am-12:30 pm. Hot lunches are served at

ROOM RENTALS

OPEN GYMFieldhouse Opera�ng Hours: Weekly schedules are posted on

Mondays on-line and outside the Park Office. Occasionally,

recrea�on programs and some rentals will preempt the hours

of open gym & walking.

Photo ID Policy: Children under age 16 must show a photo ID

or have a parent escort them to the Fieldhouse with photo ID

on behalf of their child. Patrons 16 and older must have their

OWN valid photo ID to gain access to open gym.

During open gym, the following fees apply:

Highland Residents: Pay no fee for open gym. Tuesdays &

Thursdays are reserved for Highland residents only.

Non-Residents: On Mondays & Wednesdays, Highland

residents may bring 1 non-resident guest. Guests 15 years or

older pay $10 per visit and those 14 years or younger pay $3

per visit. Highland residents are responsible for the ac�ons of

their guests. On Fridays, Saturdays, & Sundays, non-residents

15 years or older can come on their own for a $15 fee per visit.

Non-residents 14 years & younger can come during the

weekend on their own for a $3 fee per visit.LCC rooms are available for showers, open houses, mee�ngs,

Mondays through Thursdays between 6-10 pm. All other

rentals are based on varying rate and are approved by the Park

Board through a wri� en request to the Superintendent.

Table and chair set-up is included in rental fees. Events with

alcohol are permi� ed in the Banquet Hall only, require a

caterer with proper licensing / insurance to serve alcohol, and

may be subject to Park Board approval. Events with alcohol

will be assessed an addi�onal $50 per hour to cover security

and must be booked a minimum of 30 days in advance. See

MAIN SQUARE GAZEBOMain Square Park is the home of Highland’s newly

renovated gazebo located at 3001 Ridge Road. This is

a popular site for weddings. Decora�ng as well as chairs are the

responsibility of the permit holder. A minimum two-hour block

is required when making reserva�ons. Electrical service is

available upon request. Decora�ons must be taken down

following each event. Due to park programs during May

through September the following items may be in the park:

tents, picnic tables, bleachers, etc. Only the gazebo may be

used as part of the facility agreement. The surrounding park

not included in rental.

Bride & Groom (both Highland Residents) $50*

One Highland Resident $100*

Sales tax will be applied to picnic rentals.

* Driver’s license must be shown as proof of residency.

PARK RENTALS POLICIESSales tax will be applied to all room rentals, gym rentals,

picnic shelters, gazebo, vendor spaces, etc.

Any for-profit organiza�on charging an entrance fee will be

charged an addi�onal $25 per hour.

Any group ren�ng past hours of opera�on will be charged

up to an addi�onal $100 per hour

A $75 refundable damage deposit is required for classroom

rentals in addi�on to the rental fee. The deposit is

refunded upon a sa�sfactory facility inspec�on & approval

from the Park Board. The deposit may be used for late fees

incurred for going beyond the agreed-upon rental �mes.

REFUNDS

FIELDHOUSE & SHARP ATHLETIC FIELD RENTALS:

Will refund 80% of the fee if requested less than 60

days before the event. No refund will be given if

cancelled within 7 days.

BANQUET HALL AND FIELDHOUSE COURT RENTALS:

Will refund 80% of the fee if requested less than 30

days before the rental. No refund will be given if

cancelled within 7 days.

CLASSROOMS, GAZEBO, PICNIC SHELTERS & TABLES:

Will refund 50% if requested less than 30 days before

the rental. No refund will be given if cancelled within

7 days.

DEPOSITS: Upon a sa�sfactory inspec�on, a check will be

refunded a full week following the rental.

No refunds will be granted the day of the event or

beyond. All refunds will be charged a $3 processing fee.

Credit card refunds will be paid with a check. All refunds

must be processed through the Park Board. Refund checks

will be mailed the Monday following the Park Board

Mee�ng. All refunds must be applied for one-week prior to

the mee�ng. Any refund requests past this deadline will

not be issued un�l a�er the next month’s mee�ng.

ERIE-LACKAWANNA TRAIL

The Erie-Lackawanna Trail in Highland is 4 miles long. The

jurisdic�on and maintenance of this facility falls under the

Highland Parks and Recrea�on Department. Therefore, park

rules must be abided while u�lizing the trail. Motorized

vehicles are prohibited. However, the trails are acceptable for

walking, jogging, biking, and ska�ng. Trail maps are available in

the Highland Parks and Recrea�on office.

PARK POLICIES

The Town of Highland prohib i ts the fol lowing by

ordinance in all park areas: adver�sing, alcohol/drugs, archery,

ATV vehicles, camping/sleeping, defacing park property,

d e s t r u c �o n o f l a n d s c a p e , d i s o r d e r l y c o n d u c t ,

dumping/li� ering, firearms, fireworks, gambling, glass

containers, golfing, harassing wildlife, horses, metal detectors,

mopeds, motor vehicles, open fires, overnight parking,

snowmobiles, solici�ng, and swimming.

Pets must be on leash at all �mes and owners are

responsible for handling pet waste.

Permit holders have priority for shelters.

Baseball is permi� ed only at Homestead, Markley & Orchard.

Tennis courts are for tennis use only.

in need of repair.

Registra�on is available during normal business hours.

Pre-registra�on required one-week in advance for

al l programs. Al l area residents are welcome to

par�cipate in HPRD programs. The first price listed in the

brochure is for Highland residents, the second price listed is for

all non-residents. All programs and classes are on a first-come,

first-served basis. Timely registra�on is encouraged. Patrons

who fail to abide by the HPRD rules may result in cancella�on

from program with NO refund.

PRO-RATED REFUNDS

When a refund is requested and approved patrons will be

granted the amount for any remaining classes less any fees for

that program, and a $3 processing fee will be deducted. No

refund will be granted the day of a program or once a program

has concluded. No cash refunds are permi� ed, even if you

registered on the same day. All refunds are paid by checks

issued once a month by the Parks & Recrea�on Board.

NON-SUFFICIENT CHECKS

A $7.50 fee will be assessed to those presen�ng N.S.F. checks

for programs. This fee must be paid at the Town Hall BEFORE

one can par�cipate in the program the N.S.F. check was issued.

If more than one N.S.F. check is wri� en in any one year, no

further checks will be accepted. Cash payment will be required

for all further programs.

LOST & FOUND

When using HPRD facili�es, leave valuables at home. Do not

leave personal belongings una� ended. HPRD is not responsible

for lost or stolen items. Items will be discarded if unclaimed

a�er 30 days. Lockers are available for a $0.50 rental fee.

Board be the judge of the best decorated homes. This event

is open to Highland resident homes only. Entry forms

available at the Lincoln Community Center a�er November

1 and must be submi� ed by December 8.

Judging Held: December 12 from 6-8pm

NEW YEAR’S FIREWORKSAs part of the season’s Fes�val of Lights ac�vi�es, there will

be a fireworks display at Main Square Park on New Year’s

Eve. Bring the family to enjoy the midnight show. Hot

chocolate will be served.

12TH NIGHT TREE BURNINGThe holiday Fes�val of Lights will officially close at Main

Square on January 6th at 6pm. Based on tradi�on, people

are encouraged to bring their Christmas trees to Main

Square for a bonfire. Hot chocolate will be served.
