The EraOr what was it actually like in those days?

Compared to the W-111-series, the coupe and convertible variants differ from the saloon series in their striking bodywork modifications. While the sedans are styled with striking tail fins, the C-variants are in much rounder, smoothed and slimmer shapes. Although many parts were identical for reasons of cost and rationalization, nothing of the body parts of the sedan could be used directly for the C-models. Significantly more parts had to be produced by hand, which was reflected in the new price: C-models were twice as expensive compared to sedans. The top model in the series is the luxurious 280 SE (W 112), in which the body of the 220 SEB was com-bined with the 3.5-liter M 116 light-alloy engine. Since as a coupe and convertible, the variants known as “flat cooler models” were built only 4,502 times, they are today very rare and coveted vehicles. Back then, the basic price of a 3.5-liter coupe without special equipment cost approximately DM 31,000 – for this price, you could have bought 6 VW Beetles!

The ConditionOr its true, current condition: original, lifted or retreaded?

After its return from the United States in 2011, the vehicle was carefully restored in German specialist companies on a high level of craftsmanship. Equipped with the original engine, it presents itself technically and visually in the best condition. Every-thing is working fine. An extensive photo documentation of the restoration work and a copy of the MB data card are available. An individual valuation report is in progress.
