    NOTICES

    Welcome:

    We are delighted to welcome Katrina Laurieto Clifton Tce Model School. Its great to have Katrinas expertise inso many areas of the curriculum. Katrina is leading our schoolwide singing programme and will be taking Te ReoMaori across the school on Friday mornings.Chess Lessons: We are pleased to welcome chess tutor Scott Wastney who has agreed to take a special abilitiesgroup. Chess classes will begin on a regular basis from Monday 8 August from 9.30 am -10.30 am.Breeze Radio: Steve Joll, who hosts the morning programme on the Breeze Radio, will be interviewing a number ofCTMS students at school on Tuesday. We will let you know when the interview with the students goes to air.

    School Band: Jonathon will be back to lead the school band this term. The band will meet each Tuesday afternoonfrom 1:30-2:00pm. Students will need to bring their musical instruments each Tuesday.Bark Chips: The bark chips are ready to be delivered on Tuesday, if fine. If parents could support us by helping tospread the bark chips around the playground equipment, we would be most appreciative.School Phone List: The updated phone list is attached. A reminder to parents to let the office know immediatelyif you have a change of address or phone contact number.Board of Trustees Meeting: On Thursday 11th August, the Board of Trustees will meet at 5:30pm in the schoolstaffroom. Parent/caregivers are welcome to attend. Board agenda will be posted on the school web-site.School Reports: Friday the 12th August school reports will be going home. These reports will give a mid-yearassessment on your childs progress in Reading, Writing and Mathematics against the National Standards. Thereports will also include assessment on all other curriculum areas. We will follow up reports with an AssessmentInformation Evening the following week.Opera: We have tickets for the evening performance of Cavalleria Rusticana & Pagliacci Opera dress rehearsal atthe St James Theatre for fifteen Year 5-8 students on 25 August at 7:30pm. Tickets will be $12.00. Please sendalong $15 in a named envelope if you would like your child to attend. Staff will be supervising the event.Assessment Information Evening: Last term we planned to have an information evening for parents on assessmentat CTMS. We have now rescheduled this evening for the 18 August 6:30-8pm. During the evening the staff will givean overview of the curriculum and discuss the various assessment tools used in each of the homegroups. We willalso cover how these assessments contribute to teachers making an Overall Teacher Judgment (OTJ) on studentachievement in relation to the National Standards. This will be held from 6:30pm-8pm on Thursday 18 August. Wewill be screening a DVD for the children for those families who are unable to get childcare.
