City of Independence issuesnew Health Order as COVID-19cases once again increase
Cases are once again increasing across the State of Missouri.In response to this, Mayor Weir in collaboration with theIndependence Health Director issued a Health Order formalizingthe July 9 Public Health Advisory on July 28. This Health Orderencourages the public to wear a mask when indoors, regardlessof vaccine status. As part of this announcement, the Cityannounced masks would be required in all City facilities forstaff and visitors. Read the full press release atindep.us/healthorderjuly28.
Celebrating Missouri'sBicentennialJoin us on August 14 at the National Frontier Trails Museum for a day celebrating the history of the State of Missouri and the unique role Independence has played.
10 am to 4 pm – National Frontier Trails Museumopen for self-guided tours including the newlyrestored Pioneer Cabin and a Special GeorgeCaleb Bingham exhibit.11 am and 1:30 PM – Enjoy a 30-minute show fromthe Puppetry Arts Institute “Missouri Birthday Bash”– A Bicentennial Revue11:30 am to 12 pm – Listen tothe Oregon Trail Suite12 pm to 1:30 pm – Oregon, California and Santa FeTrail experts will share the unique roll Missouri andIndependence played in the westward expansion.2 pm to 2:15 pm – Presentation of newly created songfor the City of Independence2:30 pm to 3:30 pm – Free Ice Cream Social
Also enjoy free tours of the historic Chicago-Alton Depot,Vaile Mansion and Bingham-Waggoner Estate. Donationswill be accepted.
Join the August CommunityClean-upThe Independence Sustainability Commission invites youto join them for the August Community Clean-Up Event atSanta Fe Park on August 21 from 9-11AM. Participantsare asked to dress appropriately and be prepared forwalking through grass and brush. If the event is canceleddue to weather or other circumstances, a notice will besent out, the night before, on the City’s social mediaaccounts. Those that sign up will also receive an emailnotifying them of the cancellation. Look for more of theseevents around our community each month.
