About usEstablished since 1983, Dextra Manufacturing is a leading
manufacturer and distributor of engineered construction products
for the building and civil industries.
Dextra has developed for the past fifteen years a comprehensive
range of high-performance bar systems made of steel and
composite materials suitable for a variety of applications in
ground anchoring, concrete tensioning and roof and façade
support.
The combination of our in-house engineering expertise and
design capability with modern manufacturing facilities has
allowed us to participate in the supply of very large construction
projects such as Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok (2,000 tons
of tension bars) or Boubiyan Seaport (6,000 Tons of Tie rods and
accessories).
Thanks to our ISO and ASME quality certifications, we are
able to control and maintain a high level of quality in all our bar
components and systems and guarantee full compliance with
the project specifications and customer satisfaction from design
stage to delivery and installation.

Architecturalbar systems
About our rangeTension bars are typically acting as bracing or suspenders and provide the benefits of high strength, length adjustment and post-tensioning capability. Being most of the time visible and selected for large architectural structures, they need to be strong but also aesthetic.
Compression struts complement the Dextra range of roof supporting systems when structural members are required to take compression loads.
Featuring a wide range of sizes and accessories in various steel grades and in both carbon and stainless steel with various finishes, Dextra tension bars and compression struts meet the engineering and design requirements of consultants and architects alike.
Typical applications
● Roof support systems ● Canopies roof support systems ● Truss bracing systems
● Hanging floors ● Road and pedestrian bridges ● Temporary stays and braces
CAD & BIMArchitectural bar structures are often complex and multidimensional. Design of realistic structures is key to assess how your project will look like and be installed.
Dextra supports designers with automated drawing components for AutoCAD (2D) and Trimble Tekla Structure (3D).

Accessories
Forks and Spades
A pair of Fork and Spade form an articulation joint. Forks and spades are connected to gusset plates.
CouplersCouplers are used to connect standard length bars to achieve a longer required length.
Turnbuckles
Turnbuckles are used to connect and adjust the bar to achieve the required length and remove sagging.
Cross Turnbuckles
Cross-turnbuckles allow two tendons to cross each other in the same plan.
Lock coversLock covers are used to cover the exposed thread of the bar.

Turnbuckle and lock covers
About our carbon steel range• Available in high-grade steel, allowing the use of smaller
bar diameters to achieve the same tension capacity, which in turn makes site installation both quicker and easier.
• In situ length adjustment can be achieved by rotation of the bar into the forks and/or at each turnbuckle along the tendon.
• Turnbuckles also allow for the application of a preload, making for example self-weight sagging corrections easier.

Compression strutsMidfield Terminal at Abu Dhabi International Airport, UAE
Model selectionCHS (circular hollow section) compression struts range from M16 to M113 and are available in grade 355 and 460.
The total compression capacity is limited by the resitance to buckling (which depends on the size of the CHS and pin-to-pin length).
Please refer to the technical datasheet available on dextragroup.com for more information about strut selection.
For larger load or span custom length can be accomodated.
Typical applications• Roof support systems.• Truss bracing systems.
Product features • Struts are available in two alternative designs:
• Architectural (with long neck and smoother lines).
• Non-architectural.• Carbon steel tube (Circular Hollow Section)
range from 42mm to 356mm.• Thread diameter range from M16 to M113.• Length adjustment of the assembly possible at each fork end.• Minimum Elongation.
› Gr 355 21% › Gr 460 21%
• Impact strength 27 J at -20°C.
Non-Architectural strut
Architectural strut
Surface finishCompression struts can either be delivered painted or galvanized. If required, they can also be delivered non-painted (plain black steel surface).

About our rangePost-Tensioning bars are used for permanent works such as connecting various segments of bridge structures, shear keys for seismic resistance at the connection of segments or girders and piers, and reinforcement of piers that are subject to horizontal pre-stressing forces.
They are also used for temporary works such as anchoring of temporary steel frame supports, lifting bars for segment launching trusses, and stitching bridge segments.

• AASHTO• Eurocode 2
Typical applications● Post-tensioning of concrete structures.● Temporary bracing / Temporary post-tensioning.● Heavy lifting. ● Seismic restrainer system.● Hold down for steel structure, wind turbine.● Structural steel frame ties.● Bridge segment connections.● Bridge segment continuity tendons.● Pre-stressed concrete. ● Pile-testing.
These bars need to have sufficient strength properties to carry the heavy loads of structures and pre-loading to balance the external loads structures are subjected to at a later stage.
Our post-tensioning range features both fully-threaded bars and smooth bars, with a full range of accessories.
The services of a fully dedicated design team are available to provide engineering support to our customers.
Post tensioningbar systems
Corrosion protection Various corrosion protection are available depending on whether tendon is temporary permanent, bounded, unbounded, with or without free length.
Protection is usually achieved with a combination of heat shrink, grease, paint and/or grout.
The smooth bars for shear key applications are normally supplied in a HDPE tube injected with grease and specialy designed accessories.

Dextra smooth bar systems in actionFor the new coastal elevated highway Nouvelle Route du Littoral in La Réunion Island, Dextra bar systems (threaded bars, nuts and plates) were used in order to provide lifting points in the base of bridge piles. Each of the M64 bar set was tensioned prior to lifting to perform at loads up to 200 tons. More than 1,500 bar systems Grade 930/1080 were used for this project.
