PREFACE This project has specially been prepared for the partial fulfillment of practical examination jointly held by Higher Secondary Education Board (HSEB), Nepal & Department of Computer Science (Einstein Academy, Lalitpur) for HSEB Board Examination 2015 AD (2071 BS). This computer project is a result of my experience, knowledge, dedication, consultation with computer science experts and teachers, and references to quality books and websites. “The theory without practical is lame and practical without theory is blind.” So, I have prepared this project in simple way including all the necessary features accomplished by me to show my prosperity on basic knowledge of Computer Science. This project includes topics related to Microsoft Office Package & Webpage Designing. As there is a quite popular saying, “a picture speaks more than a word”, I have tried my best to express theories using images and screenshots. This project is totally based upon Windows 7 OS & Microsoft Office Package 2007. Today’s world (21st Century) deserves to be specific so that the importance of the computer may be a case of familiarity to all. Without application of the computer in any sector misses something valuable. In every field, either in mysterious science or in agriculture, even in medical field along with education and military, there is necessity of computer. Thus, computer knowledge is a guide that leads people to success. Due to the same reason, most of the young generations are influenced by modern technologies ranging from smart phones to smart cards. I have tried my best to include the quality content, and avoid all kinds of errors as far as possible.

ACKNOWLEGEMENT This project is an outcome of long inspirations and great
support from many people either directly or indirectly. I’m always grateful to them for cooperating with me in making this report. As every organized report requires a lot of hard work and seeks a lot of helping hands. Up to the completion of this project report, I was not so far from this strategy or rule.
First of all, I sincerely thank my subject teacher Mr. Hem Prasad Thapaliya for his proper guidance and moderation during my classes. Obviously, this project would not have been possible without support and encouragement from Hari Prasad Chaudhary (Founder, http://merospark.com), Sanjaya Chauwal, Dinesh Bala, Sahasra Paudel and all my classmates for their continuous support and help on the completion of my project work. I wish to extend my deepest gratitude to every individual who supported me either directly or indirectly and helped me to complete my project report successfully.
Everything I’ve done will be worthless if I forget my
parents and family members; I am very thankful for their
support, love, inspiration, cooperation and care since the day
of my birth and for valuable advice which I received from
them time to time.
Last but not the least; I would like to thank Einstein
Academy for providing laboratory and library facilities without
which this project couldn’t be prepared on the basis of
practical classes.

Microsoft Office Introduction
Microsoft Office is an office suite of desktop applications, servers and
services for Microsoft Windows and OS X operating systems. It was
first announced by Bill Gates of Microsoft Corporation on 1st August
1988. The first version of Office contained Microsoft Word, Microsoft
Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint. On 10th July 2012, Softpedia reported
that Office is used by over a billion people worldwide. The current
versions are Office 2013 for Windows, released on 11th October 2012;
and Office 2011 for OS X, released 26th October 2010. On 24th
October 2012, the RTM final code of Office 2013 Professional Plus was
released to TechNet and MSDN subscribers for download. On 15th
November 2012, the 60-day trial version of Office 2013 Professional
Plus was released for download. On January 21st, 2015, Microsoft
announced that Microsoft Office 2016 will be released in the second
half of 2015.
In fact when we open up MS-Office Package, we will find four main
components in it. They are MS-Word (Word Processing), MS-Excel
(Spreadsheet), MS-Access (Database Management) and MS-PowerPoint
(Presentation).

Spreadsheet Introduction
MS-Excel is one of the commercial
spreadsheet software widely used
throughout the world developed by
Microsoft Corporation, USA. It is collectively
called “spreadsheet package”. The best part
of using spreadsheet is – we don’t have to do
calculation ourselves! The program will do
itself. It can be developed to perform the
various tasks such as bill preparation, result
preparation, inventory management, salary
sheet etc. in a systematic & scientific way.

Presentation Introduction
Presentation is the practice of showing and explaining the content of a
topic to audience or learners. It is widely used in different fields such
as education, business, organizations etc to express or share the
particular Knowledge throughout the world. Blackboards, whiteboards
are now being replaced by smart boards developing "e-learning".
Microsoft PowerPoint is a slide show presentation program developed
by Microsoft Corporation, USA. It was
officially launched on 22nd May, 1990, as a
part of the Microsoft Office suite. It
consists of a number of individual pages or
"slides”. It is used to create slideshows,
composed of text, graphics, and other
objects, which can be displayed on-screen
and shown by the presenter or printed out
on transparencies or slides. Slides may
contain text, graphics, sound, movies, and
other objects.

Word Processing Introduction
A word processor is a computer application software program which enables users to create, edit, format, save and print documents. It helps in the creation of documents through computerized text editing, formatting, storing and printing.
Let us consider a context of office. Many
letters are typed in office. The officer
dictates a letter. The Secretary (typist)
first types a draft copy of the letter. The
officer goes through it to check mistakes
regarding spelling errors, missing
words, etc. and suggests corrections.
The typist changes the letter as
suggested by the officer. This is a simple
example of word processing.
Microsoft Word is one of the popular, powerful, advanced and useful word processing software developed by Microsoft Corporation, USA. It was first released in 1983 AD. It was previously considered the main program in MS-Office. The extension name of MS-Word was "file_name.doc" till MS-Word 2003 but the latest versions after MS-Word 2007 use "file_name.docx" as extension name.

These days, MS-Word is considered as the best word processing software due to its following specifications.
★ Users can insert various graphics such as images, graphs, pie charts,
clip arts, watermarks etc.
★ Users can change the font layout and make it look more attractive.
★ MS-Word enables automatic checking of spellings & grammatical
errors.

MS-DOS Introduction
MS-DOS stands for Microsoft Disk
Operating System. It was popular operating
system software during 1980-1990. It is
command based operating system (CUI)
where commands and correct syntax has to
be remembered in text form. The main
function of MS-DOS is to establish
relationship between hardware and
software components.
Features of DOS
It is a 16-bit OS specially developed for personal computers.
It is single user/ program & it doesn’t supports multi-user and
multitasking.
It basically uses two types of commands; internal commands &
external commands.
It has 640 kilobytes of user program memory space.
It doesn’t provide graphical interface but some application
programs which run under DOS may provide graphical interface.
Internal Commands
a. DIR
This command displays a list of files and sub directories from a directory with number of files, date and time of modification etc. Syntax: DIR [drive:]

Microsoft Windows An operating system (OS) is software that manages computer
hardware and software resources and provides
common services for computer programs.
Microsoft Windows is a family of proprietary operating systems
designed by Microsoft Corporation and primarily
targeted to Intel architecture based
computers. The newest version is Windows
8.1 for workstations and Windows Server 2012
R2 for servers. Windows 7 recently overtook
Windows XP as most used
OS. Microsoft Windows
was originated in 1985 as
an operating
environment running on top
of MS-DOS, which was the standard operating system shipped on most
Intel architecture personal computers at the time. In 1995, Windows
95 was released which only used MS-DOS as a bootstrap.
Several editions of Windows are widely used. In recent years, Microsoft
has expended significant capital in an effort to promote the use of
Windows as a server operating system. However, Windows' usage on
servers is not as widespread as on personal computers, as Windows
competes against Linux and BSD for server market share. The
first PC that used windows operating system was the IBM Personal
System/2.

Webpage Designing Introduction
HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language. It is a text markup language used to create webpage for internet. It is regarded as a fundamental building block of the web. It was firstly introduced by Tim Bernes-Lee in 1990 at Conseil European pour la Recherché Nuclearaire (CERN) or the European Laboratory for the particle Physics, to be used as the coding language for the internet.
Features of HTML » HTML provides tags which help in changing overall layout of a text on a webpage. » It allows graphics such as images, videos, audio clips etc to be included on a webpage. » It is designed to work on a wide variety of platforms.
HTML Tag An instruction that is embedded directly into the text of a document is called HTML tag. They are generally enclosed in an open angle bracket (<) and close angle bracket (>) symbols. The basic structure of HTML tag is: <tag_name> Text </tag_name> For example; <TITLE> My First Webpage </TITLE> Here, <TITLE> is a beginning tag. </TITLE> is an ending tag.
