KNOW YOUR ALUMNI
I was always good at academics and was pretty obedient to listen to my mentors who insisted to enhance my writing skills and emphasized on reading newspaper on a daily basis.
Suggestions for your juniors in taking up PR as a career option
What you did to improve your PR skills during the academic years?
PR was not my forte at the beginning of my learning stage but as I took part in almost every event organised by the DME Media School, I developed an interest and even got better at it. I also learnt that PR and events is a lucrative field so I thought it would
be wise to choose it over other options.
If you are an extrovert then this would be probably the most suitable career option for you. Focus on your listening and writing skills as you will be told to meet clients and manage conferences and seminars.
Anything you wish that you would have done earlier benefitting you in your professional life?Though I was an obedient student, but I wish I had not ignored some crucial advices given by my teachers who consistently urged me to develop reading habits and guided me through to crave the best out of me.
What was your vision while joining DME Media School?I had completed my diploma in VFX and Graphic Designing before joining DME but I was curious about event management so I did not hesitate enrolling for a mass communication course and apparently I liked it.
Having worked at the CNN Media services as a PR executive, Gilchrist Prem, an alumnus of DME Media School has been carrying forward the ethos and characters of the institution into his professional life. Prem worked extensively throughout his academic years in college and was often praised by his teachers for his dedication. He was committed to take PR as a career option and willingly took every opportunity offered by DME to polish his PR and event management skills.
When did you develop an interest for PR and events?
Gilchrist Prem
In Hindu belief, cow is referred to as the 'Gau Mata' or a 'Holy Mother and is worshiped for the same. The documentary showcased the brutal irony which India is facing. It was based on the theme to save the holy cows and to lay emphasis on the torture on them for the human greed. It covered the use of harmful chemicals on the cows for excessive milk production. It also depicted the harmful effects of plastics that they consume while grazing openly and are slaughtered when they are of no use to their owners.
The alumni of DME Media School bagged third position at the film festival of K.R. Mangalam University for the documentary 'The Holy Cow Business' on January 20, 2020. The documentary was produced by Rohan Bailwal, Smriti Bajaj and Samiksha Sharma during their final year project in 2019.

DME has an extremely vibrant work environment. Being run by visionary people , a tmosphere i s h ighly professional and challenging. In the last couple of years, DME has taken leaps of growth which is not usual for institutes so young.
Digital media is definitely 'the next big thing'. In the Indian context, it will continue to gain importance because of its active usage by the youth. However, one must be well-informed and wise about what to promote and what to ignore.
