E-SPORTSIn 2013, League of Legends was officially recognized as a sport by the United States government. This allowed players from all over the world to obtain Visas and come overseas specifically to play the game. This started with two players, Edward (from Russia) and Shiphtur (Canada) and even led to the creation of an entire team from Korea (Quantic Gaming).

THE FUTUREAs of today, League of Legends is the most played video game in the world in terms of hours played and nothing seems to be slowing it down. This year it has obtained sponsors in the form of Coca-Cola and Nissan, Coca-Cola has even created their own tournament. It seems that League of Legends has no where to go but up and I imagine it will take quite some time before another game is able to knock it off of it’s pedestal.
