Unfold to step 11. Reverse-fold the right flap on theexisting crease and make the flapcome out through the middle.

flap.

Valley-fold.

Repeat steps 27-28 onthe left flap.

Valley-fold and unfoldon the black dot.

Open sink the tip. Valley-fold,spreading thelayers downward.

Valley-fold thetwo flaps together.

Make the indicated pleats usingthe existing valley creases.

Valley-fold the flap leftward.

Mountain-fold the raw edgesbehind. The only purpose ofthis step is to help prevent thepaper from tearing in step 45.

Valley-fold as shown. On the lowerhalf of the model, the fold extendsunderneath the top layer.

Valley-fold the top flap to theright. Valley-fold on the blackdot so that the corner touchesthe existing crease.

Repeat steps 39-41 on the left side.

Valley-fold the flap so that its loweredge touches the two black dots.

Valley-fold.

Mountain-fold the left side behind.

Mountain-fold through all layers. Valley-fold edge-to-edge. Unfold to step 46.

Oustide-reverse-fold onexisting creases.

Bend the trunk upward,stretching the bottom edge.Be careful not to tear thepaper!

Make a pleat to suggest theelephant’s eye. Roll andunroll the front tusk formingmany vertical valley creasesand giving the tusk a naturalcurvature. Repeat behind.

Outside-reverse-fold onexisting creases.

Reverse-fold the top of the earso that it no longer protrudes.Turn over.

The elephant pop-up is ready to popup. The trunk sticks out a bit totantalize the viewer as to what willhappen when we open the card...

...Pop goes the Elephant! Pull the left and right sides apartand the elephant lifts its head!
