TRANSFORMING SPACES 2014
TRANSFORMING SPACES 2014Thursday, 3rd April through Sunday, 6th April
OFFICIAL ARTISTS CALL
Transforming Spaces is an annual art tourthat takes place in Nassau, The Bahamastwo weeks prior to Easter. The event has be-come widely acclaimed as one of the moresignificant cultural events in the archipelago.
Patrons are carried via bus to several galler-ies throughout the island of New Providenceaccompanied by a knowledgeable tour guidewho explains the history of each space andpreviews what the audience will view there. Each gallery (or transformed space) dis-plays a different exhibition and collection ofartists every year and is represented by anauthoritative docent who elucidates the showin greater detail to the visiting groups.
For the first time in 2012 the large, multi-faceted exhibition adopted a themed ap-proach which acted as the all-encompassinglink between the sites which was extremelysuccessful. It was decided to repeat thisprocess for 2014 using the theme WATER.
The theme is intended to identify, provokeand project thoughts on the topic of waterand its place in our individual and/or collec-tive experiences. Artists are encouraged toinvestigate, exploit and reveal the possibili-
ties of water and all that its properties have tooffer. WATER can be used literally, figura-tively or symbolically to guide individual nar-ratives. In this context WATER can be-come, for example, a subject, a metaphor, amaterial and more..it should manifest itselfas the focal point in the creation of a singlework/project designed for this event.
To celebrate its 10th
Anniversary, Transform-ing Spaces 2014 will expand to become a four-day affair consisting of an evening VIP GalaOpening, a Talk Series, Film and Video night,
as well as other events to complement thethemed exhibitions that will include all formsof media showcasing the art explosion thathas taken place in The Bahamas in recentyears. In addition, theTransforming Spaces team has invited agroup of local and international curators to se-

Life Coach Kaylus Adams has announced plans
for a unique Retreat for women entitled, Reno-
vate Your Life that is designed to ignite,
enlighten, support and inspire women to redefine,
reorganize, refresh and redecorate their lives. Just
as the renovation of a physical space requires spe-
cific planning and development phases in order to
reach completion, this engaging Retreat will fol-
low similar guidelines in a holistically personalway.
Targeted towards those women who might find
themselves looking to enjoy life more, or feeling
that they have outgrown where they are, or are
tired of the same ol same ol but are not quite
sure how to make a change, Ms Adams stated:
Significant changes to live our best, ideal life
can happen as a result of getting clarity about
what we want, making quality decisions to up-
hold what we want, and taking intentional stepstoward what we want in order to accomplish
goals.
The Retreat will take place at Doongalik Studios
on Village Road over the course of 8 hours of
coaching within the span of 60 days, in three
phases of one Saturday session per month during
September, October and November. Women will
be guided through three moderately paced, group
coaching sessions entitled Redesign, Renovate
and Reveal during which Ms Adams will lead
them through fun, engaging self-discovery exer-
cises and provide them with self-assessments to
notice changes in thinking, desires and direction.
Her audiences, participants and clients can expect
her to share proven life principles, draw witty il-
lustrations and reference enlightening anecdotes.
Kaylus Adams is the creative mastermind of this
event which is a merger of her hospitality back-
ground with over ten years of experience as a life
and business realignment coach, workshop and
retreat facilitator. As a successful example of her
own renovated life, Ms Adams is able to empa-thize with women because she understands that
change, transition and transformation can be pains-
taking, uncomfortable, and lonely. She knows
what it is like to make challenging, unscripted out
of the box decisions to embrace more joy, peace
and fulfillment and passion ones life.
