    1.3 LCT Connection

    Connect the Ethernet interface of the LCT to the FlexiPacket Radio depending on thetest bench scenario.

    FlexiPacket Radio has two IP addresses as reported in Fig. 7:

    For the default configuration, the IP address of the PC must be 192.168.255.x, wherex (between 4 and 253) provides an available IP address. Sub-net Mask has to be255.255.255.0

    If no DCN Planning configuration is available (or Stand alone Link) it is suggested toconfigure on the equipment the following IP addresses (refer to paragraph 1.12 to setthese parameters):

    Consequently the LCT must be set with an IP address belonging to the same IPSubnet.

    Before opening the LCT it is suggested to verify the connectivity between the PC andthe Equipment. To check, apply a ping command from the Windows DOS Prompt.

    1.4 Create a map with NetBuilder

    Purpose :create a map with two NEs (Station A NE and Station B NE) to be used during theSystem Commissioning and Testing.

    Steps :

    5 After this command, the system opens the NE properties window.

    Enter the parameters relevant to the NE of Station A.

    1.4.1.1 Create a Map with NetBuilder (4)

    The NE configuration parameters are:

    NE Name:

    It is the name of the NE, which must be univocal. It is necessary to enter both thename and the network address for each NE. If only the network address is entered,the network address itself is assumed as NE name.

    Disabled :Selecting the Disabled check-box, the NE is set as disabled. A disabled NE ischaracterized on the map by an icon with a little cross and a different color.

    By default, the Disabled check-box is not selected.

    Synchronization :

    The user can, selecting the Synchronization check-box, synchronize the date andtime of the NE with the local date and time of the LCT (proprietary synchronizationmode). On the contrary, the proprietary synchronization is disabled and an NTPserver must be present. By default, the Synchronization check-box is not selected.

    Protocol:

    It is the application protocol for the management of the NEs.

    –Select SNMP Address :

    Set the IP address of the NE. Open the configuration window clicking on Settings.Enter the IP address and click on OK to confirm the executed settings.

    6 Select again Edit → New → Net-Element and insert the parameters regarding theNE of Station B.

    7 Select File → Save as . Give a name to the map.

    8 Select File → Exit to quit NetBuilder.

    1.5 Equipment configuration (station A)

    Purpose :This chapter gives all the information to configure the main parameters of the NE inorder to implement the commissioning.

    In case of 1+1 configuration configure the Main FlexiPacket Radio and the ProtectionFlexiPacket Radio.

    Steps:

    1 Start the LCT:

    Start → All Programs → Nokia Siemens Networks → LCT → LCT

    2 Open the LOCALNE_SNMP.map:File → Open Map → Select LOCALNE_SNMP.map

    3 Right click on the FlexiPacket Radio icon.

    4 The " Open NE " screen opens.

    6 To configure the Equipment select the menu

    Status and Config → Equipment .

    1.6 GbE - Configuration

    Figure below shows the default configuration.

    Steps:

    1 Set the MDI/MDI-X Autosensing field:

    Automatic (default), Manual .

    If it's set to Automatic, the Ethernet cable to be connected to the FlexiPacket Radiocan be straight or cross.

    2 Set the Autonegotiation Protocol field:

    Enabled (default), Disabled .

    If set to Enabled , the bit rate and the operation type is automatically set by theEthernet interface.

    TIPIn the Local Capabilities field it is possible to enter the max. capabilities to benegotiated and the Enabled Capabilities field is a read-only field.

    If set to Disabled , the bit rate and the operation type must be selected in the relevantfield, as shown in the next figure.

    3 If the Ethernet interface is 1000 Full Duplex (Note: for this interface the auto-negotiation Protocol must be always enabled), it is possible to set the operation mode

    in the Master/Slave Selection Field:Automatic (default), Master , Slave ).

    4 By pressing pushbutton Reset , the restart of the physical interface will take place.

    WARNINGThe priority of Local port, Radio port and Micro port are fixed and cannot bechanged.

    Enable the suitable resolution criterion (multiple selection can be done):

    • VLAN ID• 802.1p• IPv4/IPv6by putting a check mark in the relevant box and clicking on pushbutton " Commit to

    Switch ".

    According to the enabled resolution criteria, click on the relevant Priority setting button and assign to each value a specific Tx queue (0 = Low priority queue, 3=Highpriority queue), as explained in the following.

    The dual RF frequency (Rx or Tx) is automatically calculated according to the

    The Suspend Interval is the time interval during which the controller is in freezingstate.During this time the stand-by FlexiPacket Radio receives no message from the activeFlexiPacket Radio, except the Suspend Interval message, which disables theswitching for the time configured in the Suspend Interval.

    1.13.2 Synchronization of NE via Time Server SNTP

    It is possible to synchronize the clock of the NE to the time reference provided by aSNTP Time Server reachable via IP network.

    The Time Server distributes the GMT time, which can be adjusted depending on itsown time zone and of the daylight saving time.

    Selecting Time Server Configuration command in the Time Settings menu opens theTime Server IP Address window, where it is possible to enable and configure theSNTP synchronization

    The default value of the address IP of the Time Server (0.0.0.0) causes the disablingof the SNTP synchronization.

    1.16 Antenna alignment

    Before starting with the alignment phase, verify the ATPC status in both terminalstations and set them to the disabled mode.

    Verify also that the Transmission power is configured with the maximum outputpower.

    The Nominal setting values depend on the ODU type and on the frequency range. Apply this setting in both stations.

    By properly using the safety device and observing the security rules, climb near theODU and connect the Multimeter on the main ODU (typically the ODU connected tothe East Modem Module) to the BNC connector.

    It is not compulsory but for antenna pointing it is suggested to use an analogicmultimeter.

    The multimeter must be connected in DC voltage measure.

    Start with the antenna adjustment following the indication reported in the installationmanual of the antenna supplier.

    TIPTake care that the antennas alignment procedure is not a single station activities, butrequire a synchronizing tasks between Installation Team on both terminal stations.

    The alignment operations must be possible only after that all above system

    configuration and controlling are done also on the remote terminal station. For themechanical antennas adjustment points, refer to the Field Installation andCommissioning manual.

    A general alignment procedure is available on request.

    After alignment, verify on both terminal station and for all RF channels that theReceived power level agrees with the project specification (see the RSL value viaLCT).

    WARNINGThe update and refresh time of RSL value via LCT is slow; don't use only this

    Item for the antennas adjustment phase, but it is suggested to use themultimeter on BNC ODU port and to refer to the Maximal Voltage valuereceived.

    WARNINGFor RSL, consider a Prx read value tolerance of about ±3 dB.

    The alignment steps and antennas pointing mode depend on the system type andproject specifications.

    1.17 Link connectivity check (using the remoteloopback)

    In case of 1+1 configuration check first the Main channel and then the Protectionchannel.

    Steps :

    1 Connect the LCT to Station "A", as shown in Fig. 73.

    5 Enter Station "B ": Activate the loop

    7 During the loop activation time the NE is not reachable.8 When the time is over click on pushbutton Show Result . An FTP session opens.

    9 Enter the user name (admin) and the password (sysmanager).

    1.18 Interferences evaluation check

    After the frequency setting and power setting, before starting with the Alignmentphase or remote station configuration phase (considering the remote station in PowerOFF condition) it is suggested a check of the Prx value to evaluate the presence ofany interfering signal from other MW Links.

    (This check is also suitable at the end of the alignment with a particular command onthe "testing configuration").

    The operator can measure the value of the power received by the FlexiPacket Radioinstalled in the system by means of the commands of " Measurements " menu.

    Selecting the " View" command in the " Measurements " menu, the RFMeasurements window opens, where the measurements of the transmission andreception power are displayed.

    Check that the all the Rx power values are less than -94 dBm (or in any case with theappropriate fade margin written in the RF Network Plan).

    If the link is already operational (but not in service) it is possible to set the Remote Txamplifier to OFF (squelching activation) for a settable timing (the time necessary toread a local Rx Power, about 60 second). This command is also suitable if any

    operator is present in the remote station.To do this check, open a map already configured with the IP address of local andremote station.

    By using the LCT enter the remote NE and activate the " Timed Tx Squelch " asshown in the next figure.

    Insert an appropriate Squelch Time (example 60 seconds) and activate thecommand.

    On the local station check the Prx value.
