    2. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

    Nokia Siemens Networks FlexiPacket Microwave is a microwave system designed to meet therequirements of evolved transport networks with the target of minimizing the operator Total Costof Ownership (TCO). It joins together the benefits of an advanced scalable microwave radio andof a real carrier grade Ethernet nodal solution.

    FlexiPacket Microwave is the mean to deploy a cost-effective microwave infrastructure for 3G,WiMAX and LTE backhaul, high speed wireless Internet networks, fixed broadband accessbackhaul and private wireless networks.

    FlexiPacket MultiRadio is a new hardware respect to FlexiPacket Radio. Please note thatFlexiPacket Radio cannot support hybrid mode of operation.

    Note: FlexiPacket MultiRadio is compatible with SRAL XD type antennas. An adapter isprovided to adapt to FlexiHopper type antennas.

    Note: Ethernet and Power Supply connectors of FlexiPacket MultiRadio are different comparedto the ones of FlexiPacket Radio.

    6. FIXED BUGS

    - none

    7. LIMITATIONS

    1+1 FD is not hitless. 1+1 FD has been removed from this release and this will be fixed in anext sw maintenance release.

    In some low modulation/profiles, if the maximum number of E1 is selected, the remainingbandwidth for Ethernet and DCN could be not sufficient for management bandwidth.

    LOF and errors during long recording: this will be fixed in a next sw maintenance release

    Ethernet throughput values are lower than the declared values: about 98% of the trafficthroughput is reached. This behaviour will be fixed in the next maintenance release.

    8. HINTS AND PROCEDURES

    8.1 License Management

    Software licenses are managed by a web-based tool called CLicS. Operators need to log into

    CLicS via the following URL and generate licenses according to the equipment serial number.

    8.2 OOB Interface IDU

    A local terminal can be directly connected to the OOB interface of the IDU FPH800 with the IPaddress 192.168.254.100/24.

    This IP address is not configurable.

    8.3 Public IP Address of DCN Interface IDU

    DCN Port System IP address is user-configurable via WebLCT.

    Default IP address: 192.168.255.100/24

    The management VLAN ID must be set (permitted values 51 ~ 4094) in order to use In-BandManagement.

    Default manageent VLAN ID is 127.

    8.4 Private interface details ODU

    A local terminal can be directly connected using the Ethernet interface of the ODU with IPaddress 192.168.255.3/24.

    8.5 ODU management configuration

    ODU management is tagged by default (TPID=8100 VLAN=127) and also IDU management is;

    when the bridge mode is 802.1Q, ODU could be untagged or tagged; when the bridge mode is

    802.1ad, ODU could be untagged or tagged.VLAN management interfaces in NE managementstart enable for all the 4 ports, but only the ports configured as IDU/ODU should be configured.

    To change the ODU management mode or the TAG value and recover all in local, is suggestedto change the configuration in this sequence: ODU remote, ODU local, IDU remote and IDUlocal

    8.6 DCN capability

    As described in chapter 7, if the maximum number of E1s is selected in some

    bandwidth/modulation profiles, the remaining Bandwidth for Ethernet (DCN+User Ethernet) canbe low (see Table 1). In case the remaining bandwidth is 256Kbps or 512Kbps:

    A. If the Bandwidth are all dedicated for DCN, the management shall not experienceany problem.

    B. If the Bandwidth are shared by DCN and User Ethernet (The User Ethernet is lowpriority, User Ethernet can cause congestion), the management can experience congestionproblems.

    In B, even the QoS is enabled, it is not gurantees that the DCN traffic can passwithout issues and the management can eventually be blocked.

    This imply that also FTP is impacted and could fail or take long time (30m) and make Eth trafficinstability.

    Workaround:The possible work around is to configure a number of E1s so that remainingEthernet bandwidth is more than 512 Kbps.

    8.7 Odd DRR weight becomes even

    Description: in IDU, when DRR weight is configured with an odd number, the system will set theactual value as odd +1.

    Suggestion: operators can use even numbers for weights. For example, instead of 1, 3, and 5,operators can use 2, 6, and 10.

    8.8 Notes about backup and restore in ODU

    The backup procedure copies all the configuration of the ODU in the file \tffs0\fpmrBackup.gz(ODU--->fpmrBackup.gz).

    The restore procedure copy all the configuration of the file \tffs0\fpmrBackup.gz on the ODU(fpmrBackup.gz--->ODU).

    Via WebLCT it is possible to transfer the config file from the ODU to the PC and viceversa. TheWebLCT allows to save the file with a different name on the PC and to save it automatically onthe ODU with the correct name in the correct ODU directory (\tffs0\fpmrBackup.gz).

    The file transfer of the fpmrBackup.gz is possible with any ftp client using, taking care of these:

    - the restore file name must be \fpmrBackup.gz and must be saved in \tffs0. On the contrary therestore wont work.

    - The file transfer should be binary and only one file per time.

    8.9 ACM behaviour and applicability

    Adapive Modulation functionality guarantees hitless TDM traffic, as the E1 number configured inIDU is less or equal to the maximum E1 number corresponding to the lower modulationconfigured in ODU for ACM range.

    Idu configuration adapts this range based on the configuration done in ODU and limit themaximum number of E1 that can be configured.

    For Eth traffic, if the capacity will be the minimum foreseen for the lowest modulation no packectloss will be present, if the capacity is higher the packet will be discarded according to the newmodulation bandwidth with QoS criteria.

    8.10 ODU-ODU cables

    Two different kinds of ODU-ODU cables can be used:

    T557OUCB.00: ODU to ODU interconnection cable, 10m; to be used only for 1+1FD/SD and 2+0 FDsystem types (2+0 FD not supported in this release)

    T557OUXPC.00: ODU to ODU interconnection cable for XPIC, 3m; to be used only for 2+0 XPICsystem type (not supported in this sw release)

    Particular care must be taken during assembling, mounting and connection of these cables to theODUs, to avoid damage to the connector pins. Please refer to the Installation Manual for furtherdetails.
