SIXTH SUNDAY AFTER THE EPIPHANY

TRANSFIGUATION OF OUR LORD February 15, 2015

AS WE GATHER

Who is the Christ? Old Testament believers had the Law and the

Prophets to point ahead to Christ, but this was only a shadow of

what would come. The transfiguration provided an opportunity

for the disciples to see this manifest: the fading glory of the old, the Law and

the Prophets; replaced with the permanence of the new, Christ Jesus, come to

save us. By the work of the Holy Spirit, the veil that obscures Christ’s face is

removed, and by faith, we are called to the light.

P: Beloved in the Lord! Let us draw near with a true heart and

confess our sins unto God our Father, beseeching Him in the

name of our Lord Jesus Christ to grant us forgiveness.

P: I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord,

C: and You forgave the iniquity of my sin.

presence for the salvation of all people. Grant that we all may

be transformed into His image from one degree of glory to

The Sacrament of the Altar, Articles 1, 2

P: What is the Sacrament of the Altar?

ALL: It is the true body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ

under the bread and wine, instituted by Christ Himself for us

Christians to eat and to drink.

P: Where is this written?

ALL: The holy Evangelists Matthew, Mark, Luke, and St. Paul

write: Our Lord Jesus Christ, on the night when He was

betrayed, took bread, and when He had given thanks, He

broke it and gave it to the disciples and said: “Take, eat; this

is My body, which is given for you. This do in remembrance

of Me.” In the same way also He took the cup after supper,

and when He had given thanks, He gave it to them, saying:

“Drink of it, all of you; this cup is the new testament in My

blood, which is shed for you for the forgiveness of sins. This

do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”

P: Let us lift the needs of God’s people before the throne of grace and

intercede for all people in Jesus’ name.

Gracious Father, Your Law is written on the hearts of all people,

and the veil with which it clouds our vision is a burden that

neither we nor our ancestors have been able to bear. Grant that as

Jesus was transfigured on the mountain, we may be transformed

by the Gospel; that through turning to the Lord in faith, the veil

may be removed, and we may walk in the freedom ministered by

the Holy Spirit through Your Word and Sacraments.

Lord, in Your mercy,

P: Gracious Father, You call certain men to become pastors among

Your people for the purpose of equipping Your saints for the

work of ministry, speaking the Gospel to all who will hear. Grant

to these men Your Holy Spirit through Your Word, that they may

THE DIVINE DRAMA – continues during the Sunday School hour

MARCH 8, LOVING THE LOST INFORM EVENT - During the

education hour, we will be spending some time going over some more

details regarding our spiritual renewal campaign. Please mark your

calendars and make a point to join us!

Shirley Morrison would like to remind everyone they can request

Prayer Shawls to be made. Please complete the Prayer Shawl request

form and put in Shirley’s mailbox. The forms are located at the

bulletin board to the left of mailboxes.

CAN DRIVE FUNDRAISER – The youth will collect all of your

aluminum cans to scrap for a fundraiser to get them to New Orleans

for the National Youth Gathering. Start saving them!

HOPE FOR GUATEMALA: Don’t forget! We continue to collect

funds to help our Lutheran brothers and sisters in Guatemala serve

the poorest of the poor. About $2 per week from all our member

families would mean $10,000 to help alleviate their tremendous

suffering.

THRIVENT CHOICE DOLLARS: If you are a Thrivent member and

have “Choice Dollars” available, you can direct them to Concordia!

Our plan is to continue gathering these funds to be used to support a

mission start in Franklin County, PA.
