Pablo Antolin is Principal Economist and Head of the Private Pension Unit of the OECD Financial Affairs Division. He manages the research and policy programme of the Working Party on Private Pensions, a body that brings together policymakers, regulators and the private sector of almost 40 countries around the world. His work covers issues related to the operation and regulation of funded retirement income systems. In the past, he has worked on the impact of ageing populations on the economy and on public finances. He has produced several studies examining options available to reform pension systems in several OECD countries, including public pensions. Previously, he worked at the IMF and at the OECD Economic Department. He has published journal articles on ageing issues as well as labour market issues. Mr. Antolín has a PhD in Economics from the University of Oxford and an undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Alicante (Spain).

Ruulke Bagijn is Chief Investment Officer Private Markets of PGGM and member of the management team of PGGM Investment Management. Ruulke joined PGGM in October 2009 as head of Private Equity coming from 4RAE, a private-equity fund focused on renewable energy, where she was Managing Director. Prior to that, she headed the Principal Investment Group of ABN AMRO in London and was a member of the management team and investment committee of the wider Structured Capital Group. Ruulke previously spent time within ABN AMRO in the Infrastructure Capital Group in London and in M&A Advisory Group in Amsterdam. Rob Bauer is the Executive Director of Rotman International Centre for Pension Management (ICPM). He is internationally recognized for his research focus on pension funds, mutual funds, behavioral finance, socially responsible investments (SRI) and corporate governance. His investment consulting firm advises pension funds and institutional asset managers on pension and investments related subjects. He is also Professor of Finance (chair: Institutional Investments) at Maastricht University, School of Business and Economics in the Netherlands and teaches at various executive courses. Ole Beier Soerensen (1959) heads ATP’s research activities on pension policy and other areas of public policy. He has a Ph.D. degree in Social Geography from the University of Copenhagen and his research covers a broad range of issues related to pension systems, pension reform and pension management. In resent years he has focussed particularly on pension reform issues and on non-financial investment risks – among them social responsibility and climate change. Mr. Soerensen is a board member at the International Centre for Pension Management at the Rotman Business School in Toronto, Canada and he is a member of the advisory board at the Centre for Pension law at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. Mr. Soerensen has worked with ATP for 20 years. Before joining ATP he held research positions at the University of Copenhagen.

Samuel R. Berger is Chair of ASG, and is actively involved across the firm’s engagements and regions, with a strong focus on Asia, Russia and Central Asia, and the Middle East. Drawing on experiences at the highest levels of government and in the private sector, Mr. Berger helps clients successfully navigate emerging economies and beyond. Mr. Berger has had a distinguished career in both the public and private sectors. From 1997-2001, he served as National Security Advisor to President Bill Clinton. In that capacity, Mr. Berger drove policy across a range of issues – the fight against terrorism; Iraq; advancing the peace process in the Middle East; and strengthening the U.S. relationship with India and China, among others. Previously, he served as Deputy National Security Advisor during President Clinton’s first term; as director of national security for the 1992 Clinton-Gore Transition; and as Senior Foreign Policy Advisor to Governor Clinton during the 1992 presidential campaign. Prior to his service in the Clinton Administration, Mr. Berger spent 16 years in the Washington law firm of Hogan & Hartson, where he headed the firm’s international group. Earlier, Mr. Berger served as special assistant to then New York City Mayor John Lindsay and as a legislative assistant to U.S. Senator Harold Hughes of Iowa, and to Congressman Joseph Resnick of New York. Mr. Berger also served as deputy director of the policy planning staff at the U.S. Department of State under Secretary Cyrus Vance. Mr. Berger is an active participant the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's "U.S.-China CEO and Former Senior Officials' Dialogue," Aspen Strategy Group and the U.S.-India Strategic Dialogue and serves on the International Advisory Council of the Brookings Doha Center. He is also a member of the International Crisis Group Board of Trustees, and serves on the Advisory Board of America Abroad Media, the Board of Directors of World Food Program U.S., and the Board of Directors of CDC Development Solutions (formerly Citizens Development Corps). Mr. Berger received his B.A. degree from Cornell University and his J.D. degree from Harvard Law School.

Gabriel Bernardino is Chairman of the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA). He is responsible for the strategic direction of EIOPA and represents the Authority at the Council of the European Union, the European Commission and the European Parliament. Mr. Bernardino prepares the work of EIOPA’s Board of Supervisors and also chairs the meetings of the Board of Supervisors and the Management Board. Mr. Bernardino is the first Chairperson of EIOPA. He was elected by the Board of Supervisors of EIOPA on 10 January, 2011. His nomination followed a pre-selection of the European Commission and was confirmed by the European Parliament after a public hearing held on 1 February, 2011. Mr. Bernardino assumed his responsibilities on 1 March, 2011. Prior to his current role, Mr. Bernardino was the Director General of the Directorate for Development and Institutional Relations at the Instituto de Seguros de Portugal (ISP). Lans Bovenberg is a professor of economics at Tilburg University. He has published extensively in the leading international journals on a variety of topics: public economics, tax policy, environmental economics, institutional economics, pensions and aging, international macroeconomics and labor economics. Lans Bovenberg is one of the most-cited Dutch economists in the international academic literature. Dirk Broeders (1969) is a Senior Strategy Advisor at the supervisory policy division within De Nederlandsche Bank and a specialist in regulation of pension funds. Previous to joining the supervisor Dirk was head of research and strategy at a medium large Dutch asset manager and responsible for strategic and tactical asset allocation decisions. Dirk holds a PhD in economics from Tilburg University and is a certified European Financial Analyst. Chresten Dengsoe joined ATP (the Danish Labour Market Supplementary Pen-sion) in 2003 and is responsible for Risk & Pensions, including Risk Manage-ment, the Actuarial Function of ATP, Quantitative Research (Asset Liability Management) and Research & Strategy. Michael Drexler is a Senior Director at the World Economic Forum based in New York, where he overlooks the Investors community. Piet Eichholtz (1962) is Professor of Real Estate and Finance and chair of the Finance Department at Maastricht University in the Netherlands. Most of his work regards real estate markets, with a focus on international investment and portfolio management. His research has been published in some of the top journals in economics and real estate finance. Besides his academic career, Eichholtz has also built up a solid reputation as an entrepreneur. Marcie Frost was appointed director of the state Department of Retirement Systems in January 2013. Amit Goyal is professor of finance at the University of Lausanne where he holds a senior chair from the Swiss Finance Institute. Campbell R. Harvey is Professor of Finance at Duke University and a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research. From 2006-2012, he edited The Journal of Finance. Next year, Harvey will become President-Elect of the American Finance Association. Harvey also serves as the Investment Strategy Advisor to the Man Group PLC. Mr. Mats Isaksson is Head of the Corporate Affairs division at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). His responsibilities include corporate governance, state-owned enterprises, equity markets, company law, privatisation, dispute resolution and other policy areas of importance to a sound and dynamic business environment. Mats Isaksson participated in the development of the OECD Principles of Corporate Governance and was in charge of the comprehensive revision of the Principles in 2004. He also led the work to develop the OECD Guidelines for Corporate Governance of State Owned Enterprises and initiated the OECD’s work on The State in the Market Place. Mr. Isaksson has extensive experience from working with both OECD and Key Partner countries. Recently, his work has focused on corporate governance and the financial crisis and a new OECD initiative on Corporate Governance, Value Creation and Growth. The aim is to ensure that equity markets can serve the needs of the real economy and provide access to capital for innovations and growth companies. Catherine Lubochinsky is Managing Director, Research at the Global Risk Institute in Financial Services (Toronto). She holds PhDs in Economics from the University of Paris I (Panthéon-Sorbonne) and in Finance from the University of Orléans. She is Professor at the University of Paris 2 (Pantheon-Assas), on leave since February 2013. Her research interests covers interest rates, derivatives, asset management, banking and financial regulation. She is a member of the “Cercle des Economistes” and the European Shadow Financial Regulation Committee (ESFRC). She has been President of The European Money and Finance Forum (2006-2012), an advisor to several private sector financial institutions over the years and a consultant to the Financial Markets and Stability Department of Banque de France. She is the author/editor of several books and a number of articles, in both French and English, on various challenges facing the global financial services sector, including increased short-termism. Catherine Lubochinsky will discuss how the root of short-termism has stemmed from the securitization/financialization of capitalism, and how regulation, including increased transparency, has reinforced “short-termistic” behavior.

Elias Masilela holds a BA degree in Social Sciences from the University of Swaziland, which he received in 1986 and a Master of Sciences in Economic Policy and Analysis with a specialisation in Money, Banking and International Economics from the Addis Ababa University, received in 1995. He has an impressive professional history, characterised by a deepness of understanding of the policy environment, grounded in sectoral and international matters. He has lectured, written and published widely. His latest writing has literally re-written the history of the Kingdom of Swaziland and provided an entirely new and interesting perspective to South Africa’s liberation. The title of the book is “Number 43 Trelawney Park; kwaMagogo”. The book was amongst a few select titles identified to represent South Africa at the London Book Fair Market Focus in April 2010. On the 8th of December, 2010, he was appointed by the President of South Africa to the position of CEO, of the Public Investment Corporation, effective the 1st of February 2011. Prior to that he was Head of Policy Analysis at Sanlam. He joined Sanlam in July of 2005, following his role in the National Treasury as Act. DDG Economic Policy and leader of the social security and retirement reform programme. On the 30th of April 2010, he was appointed by the President of South Africa, President Jacob Zuma, as one of 24 commissioners of the National Planning Commission, tasked with producing a national development plan and development vision statement for the country. In June of 2006, he was elected to Chair the Board of the South African Savings Institute, a position he has held till March 2010. In May of 2008, he was appointed by President Thabo Mbeki to the Board of the South African Reserve Bank.

This department plays a central role in the determination of the financial strategy for associated pension funds which manage a total of more than €350 billion. The department is also responsible for various current research projects, such as pension contract redesign and longevity modelling. One day a week Steenbeek is Professor of Pension Fund Risk Management at the Erasmus School of Economics in Rotterdam. Apart from lecturing on various finance subjects, he conducts academic research and publishes articles in the pensions management field. Onno is Co-Chair of the Rotman ICPM Research Committee.

Roger assumed the new post of Global Head of Investment Content at Towers Watson in July 2008 after acting as the Global Head of the investment practice from 1995 to 2008. Roger joined Watson Wyatt in 1989 to start the firm's investment consulting practice and under his leadership the practice grew to a global team of over 500. His prior career involved heading the Mercer investment practice and leading the business development and quantitative investment functions at Gartmore Investment Management. Roger’s current role includes work for some of the firm's major investment clients both in the UK and internationally. Joop N. van Lunteren, Llm. (1945) graduated in Tax Law and Public Finance at Leyden University in 1970. He started his professional career in the Ministry of Finance and the Tax Administration as a tax inspector. Between 1974 and 1984 he held a number of positions in fields as HRM, training and Corporate Communication. In 1984 Van Lunteren became Deputy Director-General of the Netherlands’ Tax and Customs Administration. In that position he was i.a. responsible for informatization and organizational development. From 1993 to 2000 Van Lunteren was Director-General, Chairman of the board of the Netherlands’ Tax and Customs Administration. From 2000 till 2002 he managed the creation of UWV, the national social security agency.As of January 2002 Joop van Lunteren is associated with PBLQ HEC, a consultancy firm that works in the field of strategy, management and ICT in the public sector and as of 2013 he is also Senior Advisor to The Boston Consulting Group. Van Lunteren is a member of the Board of Trustees of ABP, one of the world's three largest pension funds, chairman of the advisory board of a large government agency in the field of education and member of the supervisory board of an Investment Fund for public private partnerships. Between 2002 and 2010 he was non-executive Chairman of CBS, the Netherlands’ National Bureau of Statistics. Benne van Popta was born in The Netherlands. He studied macro-economics, public finance and political economics (1970 – 1976). He worked at the Ministry of Finance for thirteen years (Treasury, 1976-1979; Budget Department, 1986 – 1995; lastly as deputy director for Budget Affairs) and was Chief Economist at the Secretariat of the Social and Economic Council (one of the two social dialogue institutions in The Netherlands) for six years (1980 – 1986). In 1995 he joined the small business organization MKB-Nederland. There, Mr. van Popta was Director Economic and Social Affairs, Director European Affairs and CFO. On behalf of this organization he was a member of the Board of UEAPME (the European Association of Craft, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises), where he served two terms as a Vice-President, responsible for European social affairs and European social dialogue. Since 2000 he has chaired the Pension Fund for the Retail Sector on behalf of the employers’ organizations in the retail sector, and from 2011 he is the employers’ chair of the Pension Fund for Small Industry, on behalf of the employers organizations in the small industry sector. (These sectoral employers’ organizations are members of MKB-Nederland). He was the representative of MKB-Nederland in the recent round of negotiations (2010/11) on pension reform in The Netherlands. He is also a member of the Board of the recently founded Pension Federation in The Netherlands and is the employers’ chair of the Dutch Association of Industry-wide Pension Funds (2005). In May 2011, he was elected Vice-Chair of the Occupational Pensions Stakeholder Group at the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority, EIOPA. In autumn 2011 Mr van Popta has joined the board of the EFRP (European Federation of Retirement Provisions) on behalf of the Dutch Pension Federation.

Helene Winch joined the United Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) in October 2013 as Director of Policy and Research and is responsible for the PRI’s newly formed policy and research work stream, supporting signatories to identify and overcome barriers that currently prevent financial markets from functioning more sustainably. She was previously Head of Policy at BT Pension Scheme Management Ltd, the executive company and investment advisor to the £40bn BT Pension Scheme (BTPS). BTPS is one of the largest defined benefit pension schemes in the United Kingdom and a founding signatory of the PRI. In this role, Helene held discussions with governments and regulators on behalf of BTPS and developed the pension schemes’ sustainable investment strategy. She previously held investment roles at Hermes Fund Managers as a portfolio manager for the £1bn Hermes commodity fund, at Refco managing pension scheme commodity allocations, and at ANZ Investment Bank and Rabobank. Barbara Zvan works for the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan as Senior Vice-President, Asset Mix and Risk and is also the plan’s Chief Investment Risk Officer. Barbara and her team of investment professionals oversee the development of the fund’s long-term investment strategy based on the economic outlooks, asset and liability matching, and risk analysis. She assists both the Executive Team and the Board of Directors with the management, measurement and reporting of investment risk for the fund through her role as Chief Investment Risk Officer, membership on the Executive Team and participation in the Enterprise Risk Management Committee. Barbara also works in partnership with the Province of Ontario and the Ontario Teachers’ Federation on issues surrounding pension funding. Barbara joined Teachers’ in 1995 as Assistant Portfolio Manager and rose steadily through the ranks to her current position on the Executive Team. She is a Fellow of both the Society of Actuaries and the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and is also a Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst. Barbara is the current Board Chair of Rotman’s International Centre for Pension Management (ICPM).
