The DiplomaFIFA, as world football’s governing body, has various goals and responsibilities, amongst them is promoting education and sharing knowledge.

The FIFA Diploma in Football Law aims to provide sports legal executives working at FIFA member associations, leagues, clubs, players’ unions and private practices from all around the globe with working knowledge of the latest and most relevant aspects in this legal field.

In line with FIFA’s vision to make football truly global, two great passions, football and law, are combined once again in the second edition of the FIFA Diploma in Football Law, bringing together legal professionals with some of the most renowned experts, arbitrators and sports lawyers on a unique knowledge journey.

Following the success of its first edition, the programme created by FIFA together with the CIES – International Centre for Sports Studies – offers a practical, personalised learning approach, backed up by theory, research and practical sessions,covering five modules that combine online with on-site classes toprovide participants with the best possible learning experience.

DATES / VENUES / TOPICSThe 2nd edition of the FIFA Diploma in Football Law will take place in various locations around the world, subject to health and travel restrictions, as well as in the virtual classroom over a period of 13 months. The locations have been selected to reflect the international dimension of this unique football law programme.

In each venue, the participants will study an intensive five-day module covering key topics. They will not only learn about football and sports law, but will also have the chance to explore iconic football headquarters and discover lively, historic cities.

MODULE 1 - INTRODUCTION TO FOOTBALL LAW

DOHA (QATAR) 21-25 FEBRUARY 2022 Various sessions, round tables and case studies related to the main rules and regulations of the international football governing bodies, good governance and leadership.

MODULE 2 - FIFA TRANSFER REGULATIONS (I)

MIAMI (USA) 16-20 MAY 2022Various sessions, round tables and case studies related to the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players, the dispute resolution system, player-club matters, such as the signing and breaching of contracts, registration issues and national team matters.

MODULE 5 - CAS PROCEEDINGS

FIFA ZURICH (SWITZERLAND) 6-10 MARCH 2023Various sessions and case studies related to the activity of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), its ordinary, appeal and anti-doping procedures and the leading football-related decisions rendered by CAS in recent years. Graduation ceremony.

MODULE 3 - FIFA TRANSFER REGULATIONS (II)

LUQUE (PARAGUAY) 5-10 SEPTEMBER 2022Various sessions, round tables and case studies related to club matters, such as the signing and breaching of contracts, transfer issues, solidarity and training compensation.

MODULE 4 - OTHER ASPECTS OF FOOTBALL LAW

CAIRO (EGYPT) 5-9 NOVEMBER 2022Various sessions, round tables and case studies related to disciplinary, doping and integrity matters, commercial rights, TV rights and sponsorship, amongst others.

FACULTYThe FIFA Diploma in Football Law is taught by highly reputed football law specialists. The various modules will be delivered by FIFA staff, independent lawyers, CAS arbitrators, in-house general counsel and managers of football institutions.

INFORMATION / REGISTRATIONPARTICIPANTS PROFILEThe FIFA Diploma in Football Law is designed for sports executives who want to upgrade their knowledge of football law to further their career, while getting a comprehensive, in-depth overview of the latest football law rules and trends from experts who are active at all levels of the football industry.

Following the success of its first edition, the programme created by FIFA together with the CIES – International Centre for Sports Studies – offers a practical, personalised learning approach, backed up by theory, research and practical sessions,covering five modules that combine online with on-site classes toprovide participants with the best possible learning experience.

TUITION FEESThe programme fee of USD 10,000 is due by the programme start day. It covers the material for the five modules as well as lunches and coffee. Furtherlogistical details will be provided to the selected participants in due time.

APPLICATION PROCESSThe admission process is open from 15 June until 30 September 2021. The academic board will select up to 24 participants by 15 October 2021. All applicants will be informed accordingly.
