Pastor`s Letter 2 Sunday of Advent, December 8, 2019
“O God judge your people in righteousness, your
afflicted ones with justice”, we hear in today's Psalm,
a wish by the psalmist, looking for true justice he
could find only in God. Those words can serve as a
key to understand the message of this second Sun-
day of Advent, calling to conversion and facing the coming
of the Lord. John the Baptist foretells this coming of the Lord
in the Gospel, calling the Jewish people to conversion in the
wilderness of Judea by his gesture of baptism in the Jordan
River. He himself, as his language is very severe and without
any compromise, call his kinsmen a “brood of vipers” from
Abraham descendants. Behind those words we can feel the
promise of salvation for the people in the coming of Messi-
ah, who according to the words of John will baptize with the
Holy Spirit and fire. The mission of the Messiah will become
a new criterion of divine choice to whom no sinner will es-
cape. We can be surprised with this severe language of John
the Baptist, who put everything on “a blade of knife” but he
knows the stake is very high: human salvation (“The ax is
already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not
produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the
fire”); notwithstanding behind these words is hidden the
plan of our merciful God who prepares the work of salvation
and introduces a peace on the earth. This peace which is de-
scribed in a poetic way by Isaiah the prophet, we read in the
first reading. In the time of the coming of the Messiah (“In
that day”); a shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse;
from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. The Spirit of the Lord
will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and of understand-
ing, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the
knowledge and fear of the Lord— and he will delight in the
fear of the Lord.” This root of Jesse will become a sign for all
the nations who will come to him for advice (counsel). The
coming of the Lord will be a sign through which it will enter
into the earth a peace and righteousness no matter who you
are. And the Messiah will have a special attention to the poor
and the wicked, looking at the heart of a man. In Jesus Christ
this prophesy has become reality calling us to be faithful to
God and to conversion.

Detrás de su lengua my severa se encuentra el plan de la misericordia divina que prepara para el hombre un estableci-
miento de una nueva paz por la venida del Mesíah. Nosotros sabemos que se habla de Jesucristo que muriendo en la
cruz por nuestros pecados ha introducido la paz (libertad de los pecados y entonces la paz) en nuestros corazones.

„Pokój zakwitnie, kiedy Pan przybędzie”, tak
rozbrzmiewa dziś refren Psalmu responsoryjnego,
mogący śmiało stanowić klucz do rozumienia czytań
drugiej niedzieli Adwentu. Przyjście tego Pana
zapowiada dziś w Ewangelii Jan Chrzciciel,
nawołując lud na Pustyni Judzkiej do nawrócenia poprzez
przyjęcie z jego rąk chrztu. Jan, sam surowy dla siebie i
bezkompromisowy, w swoim stylu nawołuje lud
nazywając go „plemieniem żmijowym” z rodu Abrahama.
Zapowiada jednak zmianę podejścia Boga do swego ludu
poprzez przyjście zapowiadanego Mesjasza, który zacznie
chrzcić Duchem Świętym i ogniem. Mesjasz ten stanie się
nowym kryterium Bożego wybrania, któremu nie umknie
żaden grzech ludzi. I chociaż wypowiada te słowa
surowym językiem stawiając całą sprawę na ostrzu noża,
bo stawka jest wysoko: ludzkie zbawienie („już siekiera
jest przyłożona do korzenia drzew”, „plewy spali w ogniu
nieugaszonym”), to jednak za tym językiem kryje się plan
miłosiernego zbawienia przez Boga, który wprowadzi
pokój na ziemi. Ten pokój, który tak obrazowo i
sielankowo opisuje Izajasz w pierwszym czytaniu. Z
chwilą przyjścia Mesjasza („owego dnia to się stanie:)
korzeń Jessego (Różdżka z pnia Jessego), wypuści odrośl.
I spocznie na niej duch Pański, duch mądrości i rozumu,
duch rady i męstwa, duch wiedzy i bojaźni Pańskiej; otóż
ten korzeń Jessego stanie się znakiem dla narodów: „Do
niego przyjdą ludy po radę”. Bowiem przyjście Pana
będzie znakiem pokoju i prawdziwej sprawiedliwości,
bez względu na osoby, gdzie jak w bajce „wilk zamieszka
wraz z barankiem, pantera z koźlęciem razem leżeć będą,
cielę i lew pasć się będą i mały chłopiec będzie je
poganiał”. Szczególne upodobanie Mesjasz będzie miał
dla ludzi poszkodowanych i wykorzystywanych przez
bezbożnych bogaczy, bo będzie patrzył w serce człowieka.
W Chrystusie zapowiedź ta stała się rzeczywistością, która
nawołuje nas do wierności Bogu i być może do
ponownego nawrócenia.

życia” ruszyło po raz pierwszy, bo byli na urlopach; teraz dajemy im taką
możliwość. Będzie to również okazja do Christmas Gift na zdobycie funduszy, by
wykończyć Kaplicę Wieczystej Adoracji, a dokładniej na zakupienie krzeseł z klęcznikami. 1
„Liść” jest w cenie $100 i można go zamawiać u ks. Proboszcza po każdej Mszy.

renovándose con hojas nuevas. Hay
muchas personas que no tuvieron la
oportunidad de comprar “las hojas”
cuando comenzamos el proyecto del
“Árbol de la Vida” durante las
vacaciones de verano. Ahora tienen
oportunidad de hacerlo como un gesto
de agradecimiento a sus padres y
bienhechores, vivos o muertos. Esta es
una de las varias formas de donar en
Navidad a nuestra parroquia. Una hoja
cuesta $100 y su donativo se usará para
comprar sillas nuevas con reclinatorios

8th grade has been keeping busy!
This year, the Catholic Schools theme is
Angels Among Us.
To better understand the role angels play in our lives,
our 8th grade students beautifully created
this poster of the St. Michael’s Prayer,
which our class recites at the end of each school day.
In history, we have just finished studying the American
Civil War, and in
reading class, we have
been engaging
in high school like
discussions of
characters and relating
our lives to them. Last
month,they heard from
local Catholic high
schools about the rich
opportunities they
offer. The entrance
exam will be here
before they know it!
But I am confident
our students will
continue to excel.
Dear Parishioners,
As another holiday season approaches, we invite
you to remember your loved one(s) in a very spe-
cial way. Bringing back our parish Christmas
tradition, we will again be decorating the trees in
the sanctuary with angel ornaments that are in-
scribed with the name(s) of your loved one
(s). Simply compete the bottom of this notice, put
it into an envelope with a suggested donation of
$3.00 for each name, and drop it into the collection
basket or leave it at the rectory. All requests
should be received by Wednesday, December
18th. The angels will be available for pick-up after
Masses the weekend of January 18th and 19th in
the Bride’s Room at the back of church. Next year
you’ll be able to put them on your own tree.

móc utrzymanie i prowadzenie tego Domu jest Świeczka na Stół Wigilijny . W niedzielę 8 grudnia br. będzie okazja do
