A Family of Faith
We are a family of faith,
called to celebrate God’s message
of love and forgiveness in Jesus Christ.
Guided by the living Word of God, we nurture one another
through worship, prayer, teaching and fellowship.
Led by the Holy Spirit, we reach out
with hearts and hands to those in need,
seeking to inspire hope in an ever-changing
community and world.

at First Presbyterian Church, Plymouth, MI
December 24, 2017 ~ 8:00 PM Candlelight Service
PRELUDE OF CAROLS Carol Selection Brass Quintet & Organ
CALL TO WORSHIP
PROCESSIONAL CAROL NO. 182 “O Come, All Ye Faithful”
LIGHTING OF THE CHRIST CANDLE The Pierson family We light the candle of hope to remind us that Christ is our hope. We light the candle of peace to remind us that Christ is our peace. We light the candle of joy to remember that Christ is our joy. We light the candle of love to remember that Christ is the visible proof of God’s love. We light the Christ candle to remind us that the Light of the World was born this night. The scriptures tell us that, “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light. On those living in the land of deep darkness a light had dawned.” (Isaiah 9:2)
CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE: “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given. And the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” That child is also called Emmanuel, for in Christ, God is with us. Thanks be to God. Amen.
